No need for intervention. The game's progress should (in principle) be held in check by this negative feedback loop: slower progress, decreased interest, reduced participation, increased co-ordination, faster progress. And if it doesn't? Well, a failed experiment is still a worthwhile one, and in any case this experiment has already been far more successful than people imagined it would be.

I think this is a rather apt interpretation of the whole experiment: http://alexisroyce.deviantart.com/art/Don-t-Give-Up-434917784

Technically the team rocket maze is optional. You can use a pokedoll to escape from the battle against the ghost in the lavender town tower. But the last pokedolls we had already got tossed, so good luck taking one the entire way there without losing it and needing to go all the way back, etc.

I guess somewhere in the past 24 hours is when most sensible people realized that this project had outdone itself. The largest number of viewers at one time was once close to 80K; enjoy it while it lasts, since it's not going back there anymore.
Too early to claim such things, when the effects of time of day, time zones, time of week, etc all have a huge impact on viewer counts rising and declining.

Being based Australia. School is on now. It started between 29th Jan - 3rd Feb. Uni starts on the 25th of January. So the young Australians are dead until Late Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. In other words Australia is going to lose viewers.

http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=pokemon%20twitch It's currently fluctuating between 40k-80k viewers. It's still got a bit of traction to gain before the interest starts to die down. It is running thin on meme's though, which helped attract attention considerably. Helix Fossil going strong- http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=helix%20fossil&date=today%2012-m&cmpt=q RIP Jay Leno- http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=jay%20leno&date=today%203-m&cmpt=q I do enjoy the ingenuity behind the meta-strategies, though.

So I watched 10 minutes of that new system. The stream delay has a huge influence on the outcome unfortunately. I think this whole idea would have played out a lot better had it been realized a month or so ago (when the stream delay was still 5 seconds and not 30).

They've finally reached the battle with the Rocket who has the Lift Key, and now viewers are voting for anarchy again.

And they got it. Just in time to amuse nearly 100,000 viewers. I think the record is 150k or so. I'm guessing it will pass that in a few days. Especially since it's only only another day or so until we get back to the Pokemon Tower with the Silph Scope. Then another day to get to the top.... Plenty of quality content to come. Stay tuned! Honestly the anarchy/democracy system is awesome. Each system has it's own advantages/disadvantages, and the community can call on the one they need at certain points. Tricky spots such as that maze require the finesse of democracy, but anarchy moves faster.

I stand corrected. The streamer did a real good job of going for the best system possible in spite of all the circumstances going on. And somehow the masses ended up getting the Lift Key. Something that I thought would have taken forever.

Democracy mode = like a let's play but without commentary and slowed down by a factor of a hundred - boring. Anarchy mode = unlike anything you've ever seen - strangely fascinating.

Anarchy mode = 25 hours in Rocket Team HQ with no progress. Democracy mode = Got the lift key, and thus allowed progress. It has its place.

So, I decided to make a video about the past few days of twitchplayspokemon for the people that might have missed a few moments. Link to video It might be a bit outdated now already as it quite took some time to put together but whatever.
Warning: Might glitch to credits I will finish this ACE soon as possible (or will I?)

Masterjun, you are a god walking amongst mere mortals. That video made me laugh so hard I could barely breathe. The number of memes coming out of this thing is insane by the way. At this rate "to consult the Helix Fossil" will become a standard English idiom meaning "to seek help where none exists".

The False Prophet is no more. Let us pray to Bird Jesus Apparently after Masterjun uploaded that video the False Prophet was no more. May the False Prophet Flareon[/color] burn in hell for the sins it has committed. Now and forever. Amen.

Any reason why people were so divided on whether to get Eevee? Also, good job, eevee fans, you got your animated ball of fluff but ended up losing 2 pokemon. Was it worth it though?

I don't know why people wanted Eevee, maybe it was because it was so easy to get? The reason why it was bad: http://i.imgur.com/9cV06Yq.png Keep in mind that this picture was created directly after beating Erika (4th badge), so before they got Eevee, when the whole fight started.

Simple - they wanted a pokemon in advance to use Surf with. There's a guaranteed Lapras in the game, but people wanted an Eevee to evolve into a Vaporeon. (That didn't work out.)

Also in the genre of "twitch streams that don't require a broadcaster to actively be present" I have setup my stream at http://www.twitch.tv/dessyreqt. It is called "AI plays Uniracers" You can give the AI some direction by entering various commands, listed on the stream. It is also one of the few AI's I know of that plays a game start to finish in real time (and then restarts with the next character)

I knew that was going to happen. Well done guys. Who cares about the Silph Scope anyway? This is nothing more than a giant multiplayer open world game.

I can't stop laughing. I just found out that the stream successfully beat Giovanni on the second stream, and then used Dig to escape without picking up the Silph Scope. Time to go in the maze again!

It's okay, they've saved the game at least 20 times since then, so no progress will be lost!
