Tekken 3: With a Vengeance - Spikestuff
Hello, a gift from Vietnam again :D - N?K

The Stuff:

  • Bios: SCPH1000 (NTSC-J bios)
  • Hardest Difficulty
  • Goes for in-game time
  • Goes for speed instead of entertainment aka going for Vault
  • lua used + created
  • Heavy Luck manipulation

Placed as Frame times:

Spikestuff's Comments:

Menu navigation is optimized fully also selecting the character which involves holding down the Start button for 2 frames after selecting the character.
Well once more Yoshimitsu is used, I assumed before the start that Yoshimitsu has the quickest kill... which is apparently true.
I also assumed he was the easiest one to manipulate each round. Which is also true.
The future fights can all be manipulated during the harakiri of Yoshimitsu and the advantage to Tekken 2 is that you can not have any frames before needing the important frame to do a harakiri.
This is known as ghosting the inputs to creating the RNG if I'm wrong at stating this Cooljay will have the answer
Read N?K's comments on Manipulation, I actually cannot explain that at all and N?K actually simplifies it to a point After fixed by me a bit (I tried) .

N?K's Comments:

About luck manipulation, I found 2 main cores for control luck.
  • Attack time
  • Location my character standing

Lucky for what? Just 2 things
  • Can hit enemy
  • Enemy will get high damage more than (maybe by counter attack)

How can I tell? Lucky are things hard to say. I tried many ways for find lucky. I have to target enemy actions, if its actions change, then it's control lucky.
First: I try not move. Then make same attack on each frame. Oh yes! Enemy actions changed. I found a core.
Next, I'll remember the frame. What actions enemy did after I make attack. Then I try and move, change where I'm standing and at each frame I have to remember to make the same attack.
Oh good, I found 2nd core :D
But the important core at Spikestuff, he found Yoshimitsu can do 1 hit 1 kill.
This run make me think to Onepunch-Man manga, the main character can do 1 hit 1 kill :D

pretty fast,even better than tk2 submission...ya!
I want all good TAS inside TASvideos, it's my motto. TAS i'm interested: Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS? i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.

This again, but this time on Tekken 3. Not as interesting for me this time around since I know what is going to happen, but this will do. Spikestuff, did you know there is actually a Tekken 3 TAS on Nicovideo? Not that you need to worry, since you beat it anyway. This other TAS is here, and uses Paul: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm10735944

We were aware of it, it's Paul on Time Trial mode on Normal difficulty, I cannot clearly use it to compare. I was trying to think of a way to add it in the submission but it's bot and on Normal, all I can say is Paul takes a long time to charge is 1 hit K.O.

Voted yes and will continue to vote yes on fighting game runs that aim for speed instead of silly playthroughs. Such a strange double standard for the old TAS guard to vote no on principle here.

This is a prettier game than Tekken 2. The animation is more fluid, and it's good to see Yoshimitsu can do his attack a little faster. That being said, it's not a funny enough attack to stay interesting the whole way through. It's a good Vault movie though.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:

This was just as vaulty as the Tekken 2 one, but this time it's much more visually appealing. And the ending is even campier! Yes vote again!
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

I admit I was kinda "when are they going to double ko this time?", and I'm a little disappointed by the lack of it, but it was pretty entertaining.
I am old enough to know better, but not enough to do it.

My feeling exactly. Except that I wasn't entertained.

Once again theory and practice do not meet: In theory this should be one of the most boring runs ever. It's the exact same move done again and again on every round of every single stage, with not much else happening. There's very little to see here. In practice, however, I found this (once again) very interesting to watch. It's actually amusing to see how each opponent is ohko'ed as fast as possible and the game completed so incredibly fast. Bonus points for having to do subtle things at the beginning of some fights to avoid a hit from the opponent. I actually found that interesting. Once again this divides opinions. I'm firmly in the camp that this was not only entertaining, but in my opinion so much that it deserves a moon.

It's the classic example of a vault submission. Pure speed, no amusement, only principally interesting to people who have played the game. The problem with sending this to a higher tier is that it is not obviously superhuman play, though I could see the manipulation of enemy position. Has anyone done a playaround of a Tekken game here?

What I've said for the first Tekken 2:
niamek wrote:
I found this movie very hilarious because of the strategy used that soo extreme. This TAS shows what a TAS can do. From what I can understand, the samurai trick is very hard to pull of since the range is very small... Not to mention the sacrifice that comes with it. But it delivers massive damage to the opponent. And that move is well exploited. A human player playing this game won't dare doing this move since it's so risky. Good job Spiky! (and NK) :)

We were trying real hard to get the DKO. The closest we got was in Heihachi but we were to far and if we were closer he would've won that round.

Quite recently. There are in fact two, both from about a month ago. [2532] PSX Tekken 2 by Spikestuff in 02:20.63 - submitted Jan 29th, published Feb 11th [2538] PSX Tekken 2 by NhatNM & Spikestuff in 02:11.78 - submitted Feb 16th, published Feb 20th
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

Paul wasn't used because his 1 hit KO takes a long time to charge up (like the majority of the characters).

Noooo don't vote yes too much. It'll make ppl alway aim speed in fighting game series with repeat actions, example me >.< (just kidding) :D Btw, DKO possible have it, but it'll reduce speed very much. Just need wait a strong skill from enemy
