I told a lie. It is possible. It is shortened in 100% run. Link to video

So currently there are only 4 levels that must be visited twice for the 100% : Rolling Stones, Boulder Dash, Native Fortress and Lights Out, that's an impressive small list. The first two have a hidden area that is considered as a hole if Crash doesn't use a color gem. The other two have hidden areas high in the sky, however it doesn't seem "so impossible" to climb to the secret area in Lights Out (at least the walls look like they can be climb). Let's hope it isn't only a feeling.

I just yesterday submitted this speedrun. Full of enthusiasm I was waiting for the feedback, but it got rejected, even though me and my friends out so much effort into it. Can you tell me what's wrong with it? video
The time as says here is 00:33.58 your video says 2seconds... that's ingame time, you want tas time. Link to video I used pcsx-rr and got this time (checked with Microstorage, also frame that shows time was frame that input ends). I have no idea if it's improvable or not but I don't care because using cheats are auto rejected so I will never submit this. Also we know you're a troll, so you lived a short life.

Okay after that random past me thing. I was thinking Stormy Ascent for a single level TAS. PAL has the fastest movement in Crash... Also it's a single level... so it gives it more of an advantage.
American: D0011DB2 3404 / 80011DB0 0022
European: D0011DD2 3404 / 80011DD0 0022
Japanese: D0011DFA 3404 / 80011DF8 0022
There is mention that this would work under lua scripting but I don't understand how.

For the american version :
while true do
if memory.readword(0x11db2)==13316 then
memory.writebyte(0x11db0,34);
end;
emu.frameadvance();
end;
The lua script has to be launch as soon as the game start before the piracy warning. But it still is memory editing so the TAS won't be submittable here. EDIT : American version works like a charm but in the PAL version, the platform never goes up so I'm stuck at the beginning of the level.

Ech, that's a bit of a shame x2 (including the edit) Thank you for creating the lua for it.

Recently I started TASing Crash 1 100% in NTSC-U using BizHawk 1.11.6. I completed the first level and now I'm working at Jungle Rollers. Link to video I'd really appreciate if anyone make me a good lua script with useful values to run in NTSC-U BizHawk.

Looks pretty good. About a lua script, you should try to contact Pirohiko, maybe he can help you.

I decided to do a testrun/LOTAD of Crash 1 with zip-zagging. I think that it would be extremely hard to optimize since the screen scrolling speed is essentially unbounded unlike Crash 3. You’d have to TAS each level roughly 80 times with different amount of speed to find out the optimal amount of speed to build up. It is impossible to predict in advance due to different speeds causing different lag. I don’t think an optimized TAS of this game with zip-zagging will ever be possible. I wanted to leave this here as a reference in case someone wants to try messing around with zip-zagging in this game but I note that the non zip-zagging sections are especially unoptimized. Even the zip-zagging levels should be easily beatable.
