Hello everybody! I'm Dimon12321 and I'm glad to become a member of this awesome site where almost all like games nostalgia, but today let's discuss some modern games! After I registered and submitted the first my TAS, Doom 64, some people checked my channel and asked me how did I make TASes on Streets of Rage Remake, so let's answer: Probably most people still don't know that TASing PC games (though without mouse) is now possible! I used Hourglass (by the way, is it still developing?). First my TASes on SORR were with allowed multithreading and wait sync (Boss Rush, Events and Double Dragon Remake mod) and the game crashed a lot (looks like it's so difficult to load the state some times!). Link to video - a playlist with all my TASes (lots of them are about SORR and mods). Firstly I tried to play main storyline without multithreading, but the game "stops working, not crash" after I chose new game or select stage, so I thought it's impossible to TAS SORR without multithreading, but later I discovered that TASing without multithreading is possible, so let's see how: Mods (created SOR games): without multithreading it's impossible to get past the Stage Clear screen, so I renamed the stage files in the folder with the mods and deleted files of the first stage! Example: stage8b.fpg ==> stage1a.frg, but Hourglass can only open stages which are named in letter order (a, b, c, d and so on)! Thats why all stages in mods are the first! Main storylines: it was hard to find the way how to bypass the selection of new game! You need to open the game, select the stage and choose character and when your character appears on the stage, you should close the game by clicking on the cross of the window! A game savestate appears in: your folders/Streets of Rage Remake 5.0/savegame. Then open and play the game in Hourglass, SORR loads the savestate and you play in main storyline! P.S: you still can't go bypass the stage clear screen! It won't be published unless you pass all storyline in one segment =) Link to video - in playlist there are all stages of SOR 2 route! All my TASes on SORR are maken for fun and are aimed for entertainment, so I'd better jeer at sth enemy than save some seconds! I TASed Survival, Events, Boss Rush. From mods: The Hydra, Ultimate, A Syndicate Story, SOR 3 for SORR and Brutal Justice. Games on OpenBOR (Beats of Rage) engine: it was created in 2004 and based on Streets of Rage 2. All games should work without multithreading, but you should try the game on Wrap multithr. and then without it and if it works in both regulations, you totally can TAS it! In my mind the only problem is if game crashes on "Opening BOR" or Loading... screens (Mortal Kombat Unlimited, Shiva and Lisa 2 for example)! I think every game on BOR can be TASed if someone could cut this screens! When I tried Shiva and Lisa 1, the game worked great and I made so entertaining first 2 stages, but when I changed the multithreading, the game became crash, so be careful! Link to video Link to video Post-Scriptum: I moved to Windows 7 and now I can't play SORR without mutlithreading though I'll try to TAS it more on Windows XP emulator. Read descriptions of the movies to know why and what! Now you know how to TAS Streets of Rage Remake and games on OpenBOR engine! Enjoy and have a nice TAS!
TASing is like making a film: only the best takes are shown in the final movie.

I want to say, that this game works in PCem with https://tasvideos.org/EmulatorResources/PCem/Windows setup win xp sp3 Here it is with Pentium II 450MHz. Lags, even though on official site it should be enough. May be voodoo graphics card is somehow making it slow? I don't know. It's just testing, so obviously suboptimal. Link to video And here is with overclocked Pentium II 2000MHz: Link to video Looks like it's full speed, but I didn't hack the game to verify it's true 100% speed. Downside of TASing it in PCem for me is: it runs at 8-10 fps on my laptop (the only pc I have) because it's very old. Also, After recording video I tried to make savestate, and it just crashed.
