Hello. I have recently completed a TAS in BizHawk of a GBA game, but it was recorded with the BIOS intro because I used BizHawk 1.8.0. When I started the TAS, I did not consider this to be a problem, but now that I have have completed it, I want to edit the .bk2 in order to 'cut out' the BIOS intro and save frames. What I wish to do is: 1. Extract the contents of the .bk2. 2. Edit Sync Settings.json to change "SkipBios" from false to true. 3. Delete the first 274 frames (approx.) in the Input Log so that the movie syncs. 4. Put the files back in the .bk2 archive. However:

As a work around until then you can open the bk2 with an archive tool (7z recommended), extract the SyncSettings file and find performance and change it to compatibility then put the file back into the archive.
7-Zip does not allow me to do that, because it does not support that particular format. Once I have extracted a file, I cannot put it back in. Instead, it asks me if I want to replace over the .bk2 itself (which I don't want). (The program only supports common formats: .7z, .tar, .rar, etc.) I am currently unsure what to do about this. If anyone is able to help me, please reply. Otherwise, I may have to submit the movie in its unedited state.

It should work fine. I do this all the time with 7z file manager. I drag the file out to a folder, edit it, and drag & drop it back in, and say yes that I want to replace the file that was in there.
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

To clarify, the actual archive format of the bk2 is in fact zip; fully compliant, fully standard.

...That's what I was trying to do... I think. I'll try again when I get the chance. If it still doesn't work, I may have to elaborate a little. I'm not in a hurry to submit or anything - heck, I haven't even finished the submission text yet.

I apologise for my misunderstanding.

You can always rename your movie: movie.bk2 >>> movie.zip or movie.lsmv >>> movie.zip Then, extract the contents, edit everything you want and, at the end, compact the files. Make sure to compact the files, not the external folder that contains them.

That's what I've just done - and lo and behold, it worked!! I couldn't get adelikat's method to work because my 7-Zip doesn't allow me to drag-&-drop files. Weird... Thanks for the help anyway. I'll submit once I finish the submission text.
