I've tried loading Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls with it. I get an error stating that I don't have the correct BIOS, or words to that effect. BizHawk has been compatible with GBA games since version 1.8.0 I think, so what needs to be changed in terms of settings?

You answered your own question. You need to have a BIOS of a GBA to work on BizHawk. WE DO NOT PROVIDE THIS.

Make sure you have a folder called "firmware" if it doesn't exist make a new folder and call it that. Put the GBA bios inside that folder. When it says it's missing click "Yes" Click Scan Check GBA and it should have a tick next to it. Exit out of that and enjoy.

If your file does NOT work, it's a bad dump. The SHA-1 must match.

Yes, we cannot legally provide game or BIOS ROMs. You will have to find a GBA BIOS yourself. According to BizHawk's BIOS_Info.txt, it should be called gbabios.rom and have an SHA-1 hash of 300C20DF6731A33952DED8C436F7F186D25D3492 .
