Emulator Used: psxjin v2.0.2
Bios Used: SCPH1000
Aims for fastest time
Abuses programming errors in the game

Noxxa: Judging.
Noxxa: Putting aside the fact that Navi mode (and the alternate soundtrack it provides) wasn't picked (which is primarily cosmetics anyway), this run actually makes a pretty good show of what Mega Man 2 would be like without the zipping breaking the game (at least, horizontal zipping). It also gives some of the unused weapons, such as the Crash Bomb and Atomic Fire, a lot more love, which is quite nice. Accepting for Moons.
fsvgm777: Processing.

I note that again the run does not use Navi mode, which is one of few reasons a run of one of these remakes would even be worthwhile in the first place.

It looks like this remake actually changed around the properties of zipping, making horizontal zipping very hard if not impossible to do. (Not for long stretches, anyway.) That said, the movie looks mostly optimal although there are a few small things I find suspect, such as taking damage in the Quick Man and Flash Man fights, and taking damage from a Sniper Joe at the end of Wily 4. It looks like it could possibly be avoided, and could be faster to avoid damage. I'm also not sure whether the Item-2 usage in Wily 1 saves enough time to offset the weapon refill time at the start of Wily 2. That aside, it looks reasonably optimal for the most part. I actually quite like the run (aside from the fact that it still would have been much preferable to run in Navi mode for the arranged soundtrack). Its (horizontally) zipless nature and weapon switching means that a number of weapons such as Crash Bomb and Atomic Fire see more use in some areas.

Are the missed shots in Flashman’s fight necessary? I feel like in the first stage alone entertainment could’ve been vastly improved instead of simply holding down Right. Looks surprisingly well-made otherwise.

Sure, more Rockman can't hurt. I like the idea of a different port with a bit different rules. As a Rockman layman, I can't say if this movie is really well optimized or comment otherwise on the port, but generally speaking... I was entertained enough. So yes vote.

Wouldn't it be faster to use Bubble Lead on lower blocks in the fight with Picopico-kun since they destroy the block formation with just 1 hit?

To make sure I understand right, you actually tested this, or are just going by this run not doing horizontal zipping? Like the other run, it'd really be helpful if the author actually wrote anything.

I tested it on a few places, such as in Heat Man's stage where the Item-3 zip is normally done, at the end of Air Man's stage, and using up+down on top of a ladder in one of the narrow corridors midway through Wood Man's stage. It is still possible to wedge yourself into a wall the same way, but unlike the NES game, Mega Man just won't zip, even when I made sure I had set up the correct positioning inside the wall to zip in MM2, with Mega Man facing left.

All right, thanks. It sounds like they fixed some bugs in these. I don't remember the other one using the overflow error. Maybe that's why.

Does the game also not zip even if you used cheats to enter a wall? Also is this a collection of old games simply titled "Rockman Complete Works" with this being the 2nd game chosen or is it a sequel to "Rockman Complete Works" submission that was made a while back?

Wow, that was a solid-looking and entertaining run! Nice use of the different weapons (like Flashman's weapon). What a good idea to freeze the backwards-moving platforms in Metalman's stage! Voting Yes.

It's a sequel. Each of the first 6 Rockman games was released on its own individual PS1 disc.

How many frames would it take to turn on the Arranged Music, and would that be an acceptable speed/entertainment trade-off?

Iirc it wouldn't even considered be a speed/entertainment trade-off since it doesn't happen during gameplay

Ah, I thought TAS went by "From Power On". Does it go from "Game Start"?

No, it's still from power on. To clarify:
Contains speed/entertainment tradeoffs This is not a goal choice per se. This tag should not be used for non-speed-oriented runs such as maximum score runs or playarounds. Instead, it should be used for movies that primarily aim for fastest time but make some (small) time sacrifices for the sake of entertaining the audience, avoiding repetition, or avoiding doing something that would be uninteresting. It may also be to collect an item or show off a part of the game that increases entertainment value. This tag should only be used for cases where actual gameplay time is affected (for instance, games in which the author inputs their name at the beginning should not be tagged with this).
(I forgot this is in the movie class guidelines, whoops ^^')
