Just a tip, if "can't run mednafen" actually meant "wont invest a small amount of time to learn how to use mednafen" then don't ever let me find out.
What about "I have no fracking idea how to use Mednafen?"

Symphony of the Night runs, but sometimes, there's the end of a sound that keeps playing (I noticed it while Richter was fighting Dracula and somewhere between obtaining the Cube of Zoe and entering the Alchemy Laboratory), which doesn't seem to happen in Mednafen 0.9.36.5....or at least I can't seem to replicate it there. There was also a bit of static in the intro song (the long unskippable (if you first play through) text one) which doesn't seem to occur in Mednafen either (unless it's because I have BizHawk set to Clock Throttle (default setting)).

Not to sound ungrateful constantly asking for new stuff, but is it realistic to see disc swapping implemented in about a week or so?

Please retest with audio throttle. If there's no static there, then it's a "would be nice to have" rather than a bug.

Yeah, I can confirm there's no static when I use Audio Throttle. The other bug still remains (end of sound that keeps playing), so that's probably a legitimate bug that's in Octoshock, but not Mednafen for some reason.

Uhmm that sounds a bit unlikely. I havent touched anything in that department. Maybe it's savestate related. But if you can notice it when richter fights dracula then thats fortunate and it should be pretty easy to test further

Star Ocean 2 is running great for the most part. I recorded a quick 6ish minute test file with rerecords and didn't get any desyncs. The only problem is that some of the sounds are off, namely menu selections and chest opening noises are ear-piercingly high. Also, framedumping works beautifully, so I took a couple real quick videos: Quick sound tests in Bizhawk. Note the extremely high pitch when advancing in menus and especially when opening the three chests in Arlia: Link to video How they sound in pSX 1.13 for comparison: Link to video This also happens with some computer blip sound effects in the introduction to Claude's story, though it's most noticeable with the chests.

thanks for your good ears, samsara. somehow during the complicated history of octoshock I ended up with some older code on accident. I just now checked for a bunch of it and found some out of date SPU code which fixed this problem when updated to match latest mednafen. It's fixed in r8497 In the future, comparing to pSX is useless. Compare to mednafen first. fsvgm777, you should probably re-check your cases

Will do, after I take a bit of time to learn how to use Mednafen. Thanks for the speedy fix.

I had problems with it earlier (you remember), but MedGui really solves them all.

Due to some things going wrong in the wonderful land of code, Dual Shock Controllers became broken. It has been fixed as of r8511. Please make sure you are using this version or newer. If you are unsure if your build is proper, try Ape Escape. If your input is ignored, then it's not working correctly.

I used the gui version of mednafen and I tried to open one of the Abe roms and it won't open. I was loading from a .Bin and it said incompatible ROM.

How do you open the rom using the command line? I open mednafen and nothing happens.

mednafen -loadcd psx c:\path\to\mygame.cue but if you cant even get that far, youre gonna have a hell of a time using mednafen. i suggest you just butt your head against it in silence until youve got it figured out. at least, the loading of the rom is not well documented in the mednafen docs but everything else is.

as of r8515 we're on the newly released mednafen 0.9.37-UNSTABLE. I may have broke some stuff when I updated it. Additionally we now have disc swapping. Load an m3u instead of a cue/ccd. To actually swap it, youll need to use the virtual pad to do it. Move the disc select slide to pick the disc you want. However, some of my plans went awry. It seems you can't just switch the disc in one frame. The game (FF7, I tested) needs to emulate the cd controller for one or more frames in order to pick up the disc change. I'm not sure if this is the case in mednafen; someone should check this in mednafen. Anyway, you can work around it: Toggle in the eject button, then change the disc, then uneject it.
