Oh, I forgot that reaching the pole with a bob-omb in hand would be nontrivial.

We've been on the case for months! And of course, a lot of credit goes to Tyler, who helped reduce it from 9 A presses to 1 A press in a very short time span!

QFT, dude is a beast. Literally dissecting the game code every day. On that note, a new record of 28 people submitted for the second competition task. Here's a compilation of the top 7: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Su6USmGK2fM Can we hit 30 for task 3? Would be amazing and some great proof that this timeless game is by no means, *dead*. ;)

Maybe this is a stupid idea, but I think it'd be interesting to see all of the submitted runs. I'd really like to see them all. Would it be possible to do a quick 2nd compilation each time, in which you simply put all the runs without any video editing, so you don't have too much extra work? Edit: Nevermind, saw you included the zip-file for anyone, who wants to see the rest of the runs.

Getting off the pole. Simply dropping from the top isn’t enough to clear the gap and land on the floor.

So that means it's possible to press all the switches? Or is it not possible to get the green one without A presses?

Star animation skip in ABC challenge ? Kreygasm By the way I don't know how most of glitches work in SM64 but I guess there is one call VSC ? Basically you can store your vertical speed and release it I don't know how... Would it be possible to do a big VSC on the stairs where there is the 50 stars door and release it close to WDW to enter at the highest water level ?

Hey, since you people seem to have interest analyzing the game, are there any ways to skip the 70 star endless stairs without being at very high speeds? Even if it needs cheats, at least knowing whether or not its possible may eventually lead to something.

Mhmmm I doubt that's the way to go Problem 1: You can "release" the VSC only if you leave a platform, or if you like it better, only if you get in the air. In the 2nd floor of the castle, if we VSC on the stairs, I'd have no idea of how to get in air. Problem 2: You can store a "big (positive) VSC" in 2 ways: Either by using lava or by doing a tall bounce from a ZB that "cancels" into a step of the 50 star door stairs. Lava way: You don't have lava lol ZB way: I don't think you can store a amount of vertical speed big enough EDIT: The max I can store with ZB bounce is 15 lol, it's even less than the 26 VS stored from a DR

I don't think so, but why are you asking? It doesn't really matter anyway

It could make ABC any% a lot faster? Only 50 stars needed.

Ohhhh I thought in general, not without pressing A. Still, I don't know. in general, I doubt it. ABC, I very hardly doubt it. But crazy tricks come up all the time, so who knows?

VSC is great when it can be used, but in general there's not many places where it's applicable. You need a some sort of step or ramp to make the VS. Once you get it, you can only move forward (no direction changes) at a very slow pace (difficult to get past amp and impossible to get past flames). And of course, you can only reactivate the VS by punching off of a ledge, and often there isn't one where you want one. And even after all that, you only get a tiny boost of 98 units, less than the 128 of the dive recover. Also Plush, the most VS you can get with a ZB is 37.5, if it lasts long enough to fall with speed -75.
