The first choice actually doesn't sound bad. DP has some good sound tracks. It's not a bad idea to close your eyes and listen to the BGM for a few minutes.

I agree with choice 1 as well. It wouldn't be worth losing 20 seconds just for the Sketch Pad App to use for a brief moment. It'd also be a bit too distracting from the path the player is taking while in the void.

I'll try to release the script in the future. It works but it's a bit unstable at the moment. I want to fix it before I release it.
But how does it determine which lines are red?

Maps are made of 32x32 blocks, and loading lines are just in the middle of them, so for example you would find a loading line next to X = 16, Y = 16. So I just search the X / Y Position on memory and then I draw a grid, making red lines where the loadlines are.

If you're at the part where you've entered the void and everything from there on is more or less identical to the real time run, then could we expect a final run soon? =3

Taking a while because of exams, so it might take an extra week. Will try to finish as soon as possible though.

It could be cool to see the TAS of this game using Tweaking glitch

Just saw the Youtube video you uploaded about performing the Vs Seeker skip non-TAS. How's the TAS submission going?

So I found some improvements lately on the tweaking part of the run, including the void glitch. I found a fastest method to enter in the void, which is by tweaking in Oreburgh Town. This is probably the fastest possible method, as it's impossible to do it in Eterna City. I found a timesave in the void, improving the optimal route to the hall of fame by 69 steps. In total I saved around 20 seconds over my previous file. Now I'll try to start working on the video and then on the submission, I wanna try to explain everything the best I can.

Sounds like it'll be even better now! Take your time working on the submission text, it'll be worth the wait to have everything clearly explained.

I have a question about the routine around 21:20 in the currently published movie. Because Dawn is right in front of the entrance of the cave, the rival has to walk around her. Will he have less steps to walk if you turn left earlier?

Link to video http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/26579427510741237 I started a glitchless test-run for Pokemon Diamond. This WIP contains the first hour of the game, up to the second rival fight. https://kb.speeddemosarchive.com/Pok%C3%A9mon_Diamond/Pearl/Platinum I'm using the Abra/Kadabra from in-game-trading as the main battle Pokemon. The purpose of this test-run is to see if this route is actually faster than using Piplup. It's hard to compare though since there isn't another glithless English D/P TAS AFAIK. As you can easily see, the luck-manipulation is terrible and I didn't pick IVs and natures for Turtwig and Machop. The Abra from trading has set IVs and nature so the initial RNG seed doesn't matter too much after the first gym.

wow, that looks a pretty interesting strat, why did you think it will be better? this could be as cool as the clefairy run,but i've read its hard to manipulate the rng for this game
TAS i'm interested: megaman series: mmbn1 all chips, mmx3 any% psx glitched fighting games with speed goals in general

I think Chimchar is the fastest for Pearl.

Glitchless, which I presume excludes using minor tweaking ones, would be rather long, but I can't tell yet if it would be worth watching yet. I'll wait for progress. Also not exactly related, but in Platinum, after beating the Stark Mountain storyline, the E4's levels increase. I would like to see a run of that which uses all glitches known one day.

I actually thought about a glitchless Platinum round 2 run. You can't get there without beating the game once since the void doesn't work in Platinum. Completing Sinnoh-dex would also make the pre-Elite 4 part very different. An any% Platinum run with minor tweaking glitch should be quite different from glitchless D/P run though.

I thought Piplup is faster for TAS since Quick Claw makes speed unimportant.

But Chimchar doesn't have higher damage?Which means less crits, less messages, less manipulation.

Infernape does rock higher attack stats (104 Atk/104 SpA, and 108 speed base) over Empoleon (86 Atk/111 SpA). Pre-evolved forms have comparative bases too. I don't know if Chimchar's movepool is what is limiting his usefulness, but it would have been my first choice for a starter.

but the aqua pokemon learns swords dance and metal claw pretty early,so i'm not really sure it's not better to go for boost manipulation or just use the swords dance.

The real question is then: how many battles in the game even need Attack boosts? With either starter?
