I used the emulator yesterday afternoon. To the best of my knowledge I have not moved, altered, or deleted any files in any folders on my computer at all. I can't restart the computer atm but I will attempt that asap. I can't imagine why it is failing. I'm getting a windows error, not a bizhawk error. edit: note- I have 2 other versions (more recent) of bizhawk that are working, but they dont run at full speed on my computer for whatever reason.

Knowing the error message would be a start... Windows systems are very volatile and state on disk can change on many occasions and break stuff (e.g. "DLL hell")

ahhhh maybe, I will just have to reinstall then. "Description: stopped working" http://imgur.com/KYOOVv4 It had to be my preferred version that randomly quits, of course :p Just attempted to reinstall 1.9.1 and getting the same error. . . : O 191 is the only version that can run at full speed. I just downloaded 194 and it runs at ~40. which is better than 193 running at 11 and 192 running at 20. So . .. maybe its time to move on. nvm, running at 15 fps.

What do you even mean by reinstallation? Isn't BizHawk packaged as a self-contained folder you put somewhere? Do you mean rerunning the prerequisite installer?

I really have no idea. honestly, which is why I am here seeking help ;) if the problem lay in the pre-req file installation . .. .

look for related information in the windows application log, that stuff is useless. don't bother posting about programs not working when you havent tried rebooting yet.

I did end up rebooting and it continued failing mysteriously. I was much more concerned about how it would. . . .stop working, rather than getting it to start again. I made a topic prior to rebooting because, at the time of original posting I had been up for like 30+ hours and I had a program running that I couldn't cancel. However, I wanted to try working on my TAS at the time and thought it was extermely odd that a program which had been unaltered (..to the best of my knowledge, unless i altered something in my sleep .. ) stopped working. I deemed it curiously worth posting about. I did eventually get to restart, and it continued failing. at that time I cleared the 1.9.1 pre-req and emulator, restarted, and dowloaded another version - making back ups of my states and movie files. This continued failing. At that point, I was too tired to continue (or respond in detail) and fell asleep. I fell asleep with the laptop on me and it got unplugged and died. When I rebooted All the copies of savestates that I created (~50-100) were flooding my desktop (rom error from crash???) The new 1.9.1 worked at this point but . . .. the save states aren't working. not a huge loss, as the emulator runs at full speed and I can more or less make up any work lost in the save states. tl;dr idk wtf happened between yesterday and today to make the emulator fail.

None of that makes any sense at all. There's no good reason the savestates would get non-functional except through a misconfiguration error (using wrong bsnes profile or gb core?). "Rom error from crash" doesn't make any sense. Bizhawk doesn't know anything about your copies of savestates. If they're flooding your desktop, it isn't bizhawk doing it. Bizhawk could flood your desktop.. with new savestates, if you had configured it to use that directory. I think you need to triple check your malware scanners or have someone find out whether you're sleep-typing.

when I said ROM, I was referring to my computers memory having an error and dumping the files onto desktop for some reason. it was just erally weird. my computer is acting very weird
