First of all - thank you devs for your hard work, BizHawk is one of the best emulators a use for last 17 years (i mean since i use emulators :)). Right now i have two questions: 1.Is there an option to autohide mouse cursor in fullscreen mode? 2.How i can use my collection of NES cheats for FCEUX or VirtuaNES, is there a way to convert them in BizHawk compatible format? Also i wanted to ask about shaders but already find ideal for myself - 5xbr-v3.8a.

1) Currently there is not an auto-hide mouse cursor option for full screen, that could probably be built pretty easily though 2) Entering cheats for NES games in BizHawk is almost identical to FCEUX, it would be the same thing. If you mean copying over your .cht files, then no probably not. our .cht file format is probably not the same. Though it is the same basic information, so a converter is a buildable thing (though to my knowledge, no one has built such a thing)

Thank you adelikat. Mouse cursor can't be hidden in any way (have to move it in corner of the screen to particulary hide it) and it's very annoying, if somebody will implete auto-hide i'll be very glad. Another question: why aspect ratio with identical graphical settings is different for NES and TG16 (for example). A use this settings: In NES games screen is wider on fullscreen, in TG16 is identical with "Use 1:1 pixel size" and "Use system's recommendation" i think it's kinda weird.

TG16 isn't setting the "VirtualWidth" property correctly, while NES is. The idea is to distort pixels from being square in a way that matches the hardware. That whole subject is weird. It's best not to worry about it, you're not doing anything wrong.

As i can see the same thing with SNES and some other emulated systems? The situation will be fixed somehow in the future builds ot it is not currently planned? Other question - why BizHawk doesn't work with ISO image format (for CD-based systems like PSX and Saturn)?

There's no plan for comprehensively revising the tg16 resolution. it may happen randomly one day iso is a garbage file. we don't want to hear about problems from users with isos, so we dont support iso. run it through discohawk and take your chances.

I understand about TG16 (and ISO :)) but what about SNES and other systems which also affected by this issue in BH? Btw about ISO i found this in options: I suppose it is outdated or something like this?

I just added an auto-hide mouse cursor in fullscreen (display options)

there's no plans for comprehensively revising any platform's resolution management. That dialog says what platforms would be sent an iso when you pick it in case no other determination can be made. Other determinations are readily made. No platforms support iso. Some platforms may magically work with an iso, I don't know. Don't use iso, and don't waste your time butting your head against dialogs which look like they help you use iso. That dialog is one of outdated, built for the future, or confused. If you write about every inconsistency in bizhawk, this thread will be 10,000 pages. Please limit yourself to inconsistencies that actually mess you up.

zeromus - thanks a lot for mouse cursor auto-hide! Will be waiting for stable release (not using GIT builds usually). I undertand about mess in BH's menus, thank you again :) ISO is in the past for me, i rarely use this file format for game images, i just wanted to be sure about BH's team policy. Another question - are any built-in launcher planned for BH? Like ROMs list in VirtuaNES (very effective way to choose roms i personally think!). When emulator works with many systems there is the sense to have something like this to not mess with multiple folders to choose rom/image every time. It could be looked like this:

Nobody who works on bizhawk likes rom list dialogs. We all like to mess with multiple folders to choose roms every time, since it lets us use our "mess with mulitple folders" skills which are very strong on account of having to use them every day to get any work done on a computer. Having things magically all show up in one list is for grandmas who just got their computer yesterday. I don't even want to think about it. If someone wants to make one, I think they'd be welcome to try.

I'll pay $10 to one who will made this wondreful thing to BH and make it more cooler :) There is no sense for ROM Path option for every emulated systems with no ability to fast open these paths. My logic is perfect! :)

If this is like Higan's library of ROMs, then it's annoying and almost no one likes it. If someone ever makes this, please, let it be optional.

Emulators like Dolphin, MAME, Project64 and many other use roms lists. Honestly i don't see a problem in implementation of this idea, it is very convinient if realised in right way (in first place - configurable). Optional or not :)

Don't worry. This is no exaggeration: using the normal windows file open dialog is one of the top ten inviolable eternal priorities for bizhawk established on day one. That's how much we hate rom loader dialogs. This will never change. Optional and out of the way is the only way it will ever show up. Avoiding an emulator's rom loader dialogs is commonly seen as one of the main advantages to using that core in bizhawk instead of using the emulator itself.

They're your roms. Put them in whatever folders you want to; organize them however you like. If bizhawk's file load is hard to use, it's because you failed to organize your stuff in the first place.

Ok it can be not "rom loader" (it can slow down emulator you're all right), it could be fast and easy to use rom folders change in "rom open" dialogue, something like this: How about implementation of this?

Why don't you use this structure?

Roms are seeding via torrent client so i can't change their locations.

But you can have separate ROM collections: one for seeding and one for playing/TASing/etc. This also means that the torrent files can be in newer archive formats (e.g. *.7z) that not every emulator or tool supports.

So let me get this straight. You're looking at a screen that contains a directory called "Nintendo - Nintendo Entertainment System". You could click that. But you want a button that says NES to click. We will not edit this dialog box. Optional and out of the way is the only way it will ever show up. If you invested the time in learning how to use your computer that you invest in complaining about how slow it is to do something on it, I'm sure youll discover that eventually you'll be good enough that it won't be slow any more.

First of all - picture above contains many romsets, but not all. PSX/Saturn romsets is too big and not everyone have 8TB HDD to store all this stuff in one place. My solution giving ability to fast access to all emulated roms from one place no matter where are they on user's hdds/ssds, it is convinient and rational. Second stuff - i'm using computer (PC) since 1998, i'm a IT professional in RL. Also i'm chief editor of my own hardware/mobile/software (and emulators too :)) website for 5+ years. My advices for improving software (interface, usability, etc.) use big companies and they pay me money for it, because i see something (usually not good stuff) they do not. Right now i give you good (at least i think so) advices for free, if you don't need it, i'm outta here. Anyway thank you all for great emulator hope you will impove in all available ways for everybody in Emu world ( (not only for TASers for example :))). Have a good time. p.s.And give ppl with fresh view ability to see inperfection in your work. That will help BH a lot, i promise.

I explained from the very beginning that this is a holy wars subject. Some people want it one way, other people want it another. Thus it has always been and so shall it ever be. Don't waste breath trying to change minds, you may as well be trying to convince a PC user that macs are great or vice versa. Your fresh view is welcome on any _other_ subject.
