This topic's description will be rather short, since it's pretty straight-to-the-point. What if there was an anime based on the TAS community, the conflicts within it, and our TASing competitions? If the anime was based on a specific user, who would it be? Don't just pick the most popular user, pick one that would make the most conflict in the story. I have wondered this before, and decided to share this creative idea with you all.

There's not really any safe way to answer this question without turning this topic into a dramatic flamefest. Well, except one. Question hereby answered. Let's not get any further into this.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

42 TASers are sent to a deserted island by the evil web developer Bisqwit. They are given a Windows laptop, food, and free Wi-Fi. An explosive collar is fitted around their neck. They have to TAS a new game every day, with the slowest TASer's collar exploding at midnight. The last survivor is allowed to leave the island. They can form teams to help each other, but if there is more than one survivor, the collars explode and kill them all. I did not copy this from Battle Royale's synopsis on Google. Eh... It would be based on zeromus, a user who had not TASed any game before. He has mad programming skills and everyone is always asking for his help with emulators and Lua scripting, so he never has enough time for his own TASes, barely making it on time at the end of the day. His friend adelikat is the most experienced TASer around and his final rival. zeromus betrays him at the end, adding some malicious code to BizHawk that ends up destroying adelikat's computer in a big explosion that transforms the island in a deep crater.
You're just fucking stupid, everyone hates you, sorry to tell you the truth. no one likes you, you're someone pretentious and TASes only to be on speed game, but don't have any hope, you won't get there.

Wait, I thought that this was about making some sort of tool assited speedrun of existing anime. And no, I don't know how that would work either
Message me here for my discord. Current Project: Psycho Waluigi Project on wait list: None?

More like casual savestating and not TASing, but close enough.

All syllogisms have three parts, therefore this is not a syllogism.

Let me think... A setting, where TASing is huge, basically like Pokémon fights in the Pokémon universe. The protagonist would be Dekutony/Kurabupengin. When he was a little boy, he was terminally ill, but his life was saved at the last moment, thanks to the medical knowledge gained from a Dr. Mario ACE TAS. No one ever found the author of it, but it soon became a legend, with countless TASers trying to reproduce this revolutionary approach, a new way of TASing that would advance science way beyond TASing. Dekutony knew, that it was his destiny to go out and become the best TASer of all time. He would find the mysterious author of the TAS that saved his life and learn about the secrets of TASing. Oh and he would of course be accompanied by a talking penguin. Other characters: - Got4n, the young TAS-prodigy. A friend of our protagonist and the nerd of the group. No matter what strange physics they throw at him, he always manages to get the best movement out of it. Even if it means that it has to be tested in real life. - Samsara, as the tsundere of the group. She makes Dekutony TAS reeeealy weird games, games that sometimes get them into lots of trouble. But they still get the WR in the end. - Spikestuff as the bully, who loves to fix the input of the heroes, always at the worst possible situations. His catchphrase is "You've been spiked!". - solarplex as the rival of the protagonist. He also wants to become the best TASer of all time and to reach this goal, he tries to apply TAS strats to real life. - Masterjun as a TASer, who one day disappeared into another dimension, leaving nothing but scrolling names and words like "game over" or "the end" behind. From time to time he is seen again, making a game community cry by messing up their categories. - adelikat as a controversial TASer that always comes up with new ideas that challenge the conventional methods of TASing. Some see him as a cheater, others as the "TASer to save TASing". He became famous, after his Cheetahmen II TAS that uses uninitialized RAM inspired people to make the current Ocarina of Time TAS in 3 seconds. - The Mupen-TASers as a religious cult that still use an ancient emulator, decades after the first release of the cycle-accurate Next-CEN64 emulator. They believe that Mupen is the only emulator that can be used to turn TASing into a source of infinite energy, something that scientists still believe to be physically impossible. The "mupenists" try to convert the heroes of the story to their religion. - Nach as a super villain that uses TASing for his goal to rule the world. By creating the ultimate TAS AI, he wants to optimize every TAS to the frame. When every TAS would be impossible to improve, this would make him the only TASer, the TASer to rule everything.
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

Can we pitch this somewhere?
effort on the first draft means less effort on any draft thereafter - some loser

Hurray for being an annoying plot device \o/ However, I really like the idea of Nach being the final boss :D oh wait this is not a game, this is an anime... well then... the final... uuh... the final super villain, yeah...

If there's a TV drama about 80s computer development (and it's even semirealistic, avoiding hollywood cliches when it comes to PC technology), I don't see why this couldn't work. There has been enough drama in the history of TAS after all. Certain comparisons of Bisqwit and Hitler particularly come to my mind.

Topic's run dry, close the thread.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

Or it could be an in-universe story, where a character has seemingly a supernatural ability to predict exactly what will happen, and always act in the perfect way to achieve the desired outcome, no matter how difficult the situation might be. Bonus points for lots of fourth-wall breaking. (Although that's not a new idea. The movie Next is essentially exactly that, sans the fourth-wall breaking. The movie Funny Games also has hints of that, including fourth-wall breaking. I recommend both.)

Two problems with this.
- Samsara, as the tsundere of the group.
I am at least yandere. Or maybe just yan. No dere. No one needs to see me dere-ing all over the place.
- Nach as a super villain that uses TASing for his goal to rule the world. By creating the ultimate TAS AI, he wants to optimize every TAS to the frame. When every TAS would be impossible to improve, this would make him the only TASer, the TASer to rule everything.
Nach? TASing? Bahahahaha. I'm pretty sure Nach's said he doesn't have the time to make a TAS. I'd see it more as Nach, the leader of the Seventh Reich, either enslaving TASers to do his evil bidding or hooking up their brains to a machine called LSNES (Linked Synapse Neuro-Efficiency System) in order to pool together everyone's knowledge to create these TASes.

More famously, Groundhog Day is basically the continual reloading of savestates (albeit with the limitation that you can never actually save a state when you are happy with it).

What the fuck is this.
This video is basically Sword Art Online (an anime about being in an MMORPG), cut in such a way that it makes references to elements typically found in RPG TASes (such as "going abnormally fast", event flags, cutscene skipping, and low-level runs).

Yeah I’m aware, mine wasn’t a question.
