Comments

This is yet another Sonic Advance run, but it is Tails that gets his time in the spotlight! While it doesn't make use of the Ultra Dash, it also uses its fair share of glitches that gives Tails a pretty good chance at beating the game in record time. I must state that Tails' mechanics are very weird, but also interesting at the same time.

Stage by stage comments

Neo Green Hill 1 - 0:24:13

Nothing noteworthy to mention here aside from flight boost after the second loop.

Neo Green Hill 2 - 0:37:33

Essentially the same strat as Amy and Knuckles.

Secret Base 1 - 0:37:30

Nothing particular to note aside from Tails' weird flight mechanic.

Secret Base 2 - 0:58:22

A major route change was use here as I abused the OoB glitch to break the solidarity of the level, akin to the Knuckles TAS.

Casino Paradise 1 - 0:24:25

Same ending as the Knuckles run except different strat at the start. A glitch similar to the "Sonic, No Ultraspindash" TAS by Mukki is used near the end of the level.

Casino Paradise 2 - 0:41:10

Not as much changes in this level...

Ice Mountain 1 - 0:42:33

The route used the Knuckles run was used here as well.

Ice Mountain 2 - 0:58:82

Nothing noteworthy to mention here.

Angel Island 1 - 0:29:32

Same as the Amy & Knuckles TASes.

Angel Island 2 - 0:57:75

Despite Tails having the ability to fly around obstacles, he can only fly but so far and for only a certain length in time so I had to take a slight change in direction to get to the spring sooner. Mecha Knuckles was a nightmare! I've actually had given up on the TAS a time or two because of him... Sadly, I couldn't get any better results than this.

Egg Rocket 1 - (displayed as 4:27:08 in game)

Ohh Egg Rocket, how I still and forever will hate you so! This run made use of a glitch that pushes Tails through the floor and causes the level to lose solidarity. Thus making it possible to complete it in one go. A route change was made here as well, which made it possible to complete it even faster than the Knuckles run.

Cosmic Angel 2 - 1:02:97

This one was a doozy. Unlike Knuckles, who can easily gain high speed through the half way point of the act, Tails has to maintain speed differently. The boss fight was mostly intentional self-damaging to hit the boss sooner during Tails' invincibility frames.

Final Zone - 0:47:42

Final Boss is STILL a pain... even more so with Tails as there's no reliable way to manipulate the pattern to be at its best.

ars4326: Claimed for judging!
ars4326: Hello, GoddessMaria. All in all, this was an entertaining run with evident, tight optimization. The various OoB glitches, throughout, were also an added enjoyment to watch (including the subtle choreography w/ Tails during the boss fights). Outstanding work!

Same as Synahel, I've witnessed the making of, and find the movie very entertaining. Mecha Knuckles is the hardest boss in the game to TAS, by far...

Well done, Maria, what a great Sonic Tails TAS! I can't wait to see your next project :)
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

Glad to see Tails finally getting the recognition he deserves. It amazes me that, even though the levels are the same, the routes and tricks are still quite different between each character, making each new run unique and very entertaining in their own ways. I think that says a lot about not only the game, but the TASer as well :3 Definite Yes vote here!

I love all of your Sonic Advance runs and this one is no exception! :) As others have already said, it's really cool that each character is different enough to the point where each stage has a different route. I also really love the level of optimization that goes into these runs. This is a definite yes vote from me!
