Yeah. I love watching a huge group of enemies go down at the same time, it's so cool!

How is your new movie going, CtrlAltDestroy? Are there any major differences compared to the current movie? I want to see a new WIP soon, please! :)

New WIP. Played from scratch, and has level 5 completed. http://www.samus.co.uk/cad/1943movie.fcm A few notes: My opening move on level 1 doesn't look as cool as in the first movie. Oh well. Level 2 is my favorite so far. There are lots of little things that I hope you enjoy, including 2 shots that you will SWEAR are misses (but aren't!) Level 3 was the hardest to do, specifically in the place near the end with the 2 big green bombers and the 2 rising and falling planes. That took a lot of work to get everything dead. Level 4 is interesting. Near the beginning, just when I think I'm getting the hang of things, the game throws a curveball at me. I pick up something I had completely forgotten existed (I won't spoil what it is) that forces me to play in a whole new way. It may look like a cool change, but it was annoying as hell for me (there are a few obvious parts where I really thought I was a goner. If it looks like I'm going to have to miss, I was probably just as scared as you are.) Surpsisingly, I still never miss a single shot. The first thing I do in level 5 is get hit by 2 bullets. This is to rid myself of the "surprise" from level 4 (It's allowed, because I don't take damage). I really didn't want to play the whole game level 4 style. Enjoy. Hopefully by the time you finish watching, My hand will have healed.

yeah dont use the 'surprise' thing XD imho it makes the movie boring.. but its ok for only the level 4.. because makes u think sometimes "omg ô.o what he's going to do now?" hmm.. why are u getting power ups for defensive power? in the level 4 and 5 couldnt u kill the boss faster? well.. anyway it looks very improved to me^^ gj

Wow... I'm impressed by how fast you made your new movie. Keep up this tempo, CtrlAltDestroy! Secondly I don't really agree with daniayaw, I thought this movie was very entertaining, especially on stage 3, I think that was the neatest level. The other levels looked really good too, even level 1, I think it looked as cool as in your previous run. So no complains there :) I still think you should move around some more when there's nothing happening on the screen, it would be enough if you just flew around in a small circle or something for a few frames, anything so you don't stand still. No big thing, just a little detail. You really shouldn't redo anything to implement this, but keep it in mind for future levels. I'm asking the same thing as daniayaw too, why do you upgrade defensive power? Is there no other that can be chosen to improve your plane? I don't really remember what all upgrades do, so maybe there isn't really anything else good to choose. Because you're not planning on getting hit or anything like that, right? ;) Oh, and a quick question about the start of level 5: in the beginning of the stage, your sideplanes die. I didn't see if they got hit by enemy-fire or if they automatically exploded or something. Did you let them die so you would keep 100% accuracy? Other than this, I wish you good luck on continuing this run, and please keep up this tempo! Good luck on getting your hand healed too :)

Great job on the new WIP, you got it out really quick. That's a nice suprise in level 4. I agree with daniayaw though, you shouldn't use it too often, it makes you seem too invincible. As for the defensive power upgrades... I have a thought. Maybe he's planning on his plane being completely maxed out by the time the movie is completed so he's just going down the line? Is that what you are doing CtrlAltDestroy? I thought the movie was very entertaining, even when you stood still when waiting for enemies. That somersault thing that the plane does after a boss dies, is that a special move or something or can it be done at any time? If it can, maybe you can do that while waiting for the enemies. It would be really cool if you could pull it off. That's all I have to say for now, it's a great movie so far and I wish you the best of luck with the rest of it. As Randil said, keep up the tempo! As for your hand healing, try putting ice on it.

Hmm, let's see. The sideplanes exploded at the beginning of stage 5 because I let myself get hit by some bullets. Like I said, I didn't want to spend the whole game with them, and I could get them destroyed without taking damage myself. I'm upgrading defense power simply because I want to max out my plane, and it's the default choice (I don't have to move the cursor), and sometimes I like to take a break from the movie and play unassisted, and this helps keep me alive. :) The somersault is something that happens automatically when you beat a boss. I can't do it myself. I didn't beat the boss of stage 4 as fast as possible because I wanted to preserve my 100% kills and accuracy. I had to wait for the extra plane to fly next to me so my 2nd shot would hit it as my first shot finished off the boss. The boss of stage 5 was not beaten as fast as possible for a similar reason: there were extra planes on the screen which I wanted to shoot down before clearing the level.

I would prefer 1944 on Arcade but there's no good Arcade emu with rerecord.

Why not? The only things that really affect gameplay at all are the offense and possibly the Special Weapons which I may or may not use if there exists one which fires a small enough number of shots that I still will be able to never miss (you know, to keep it interesting)

No, I'm talking about the upgrades.

Just wanted to add my comment: It was not as uninteresting as I expected it to be, which is good I guess. Especially at level 3+ the entertainment value increased. Also nice how you handled the side planes addition.

I think he should max out the plane because it makes it a bit more interesting. Not only is he able to get 100% kills but he's able to completely max out his plane and keep it that way throughout the game.

Yeah, you're right, I read your post too fast before and got it all wrong. Sorry about that. Now that I understand what you were talking about, I agree with you on that point :) This is because CtrlAltDestroy would have to be a lot more careful to make sure that every shot hits, and therefor probably won't be able to keep the entertainment level as high since it's mostly about focusing on getting all the enemies killed without missing a single shot. It could be cool in to have those sideplanes on some stages, but not on every stage. So I think it was a good choise that you got them killed on stage 5, CtrlAltDestroy. I just watched your movie once again, and I would just like to say that I agree with TNSe, I'm very impressed by the way you handled the enemies when you had those sideplanes with you. Amazing. By the way, how long do you think that it will take until you get your plane all maxed out? Somewhere around, I don't know, stage 15? Since it's been a few days since your last WIP, I'm expecting your hand to have healed now, CtrlAltDestroy, so you should give us a new WIP soon! :)

It's my opinion that it's fun to see the game freeze just when something is about to happen. For example, in level 2 I shoot a plane just before picking up the powerup, and in level 5 I got a few big planes that just suddenly appear at the bottom of the screen. And on level 7, I'm 1 frame away from getting hit by a plane when I trigger the scene. It's just another something to make it more interesting. 2 more levels done... and here's a savestate so you don't have to watch the first 5 over again. http://www.samus.co.uk/cad/1943movie.fcm http://www.samus.co.uk/cad/1943movie.fcq

I can't get the state to work, when I load it the movie starts recording from stage 6. How do I do it?

Read only? Meaning make the state a read-only file? I tried that and it still started recording from stage 6.

No, I mean open the movie read-only in FCEU. You should download the movie again since you messed it up by recording.

If someone else doesn't know how to play a movie from a savestate, here's how you do it: 1. Open the correct ROM 2. Press on "Replay movie..." under "File" 3. Choose the moviefile you want to play. 4. Before pressing OK, mark the box named "Open Read-Only". 5. When the movie starts playing, just load the savestate that you wish to play the movie from. However, I couldn't get the savestatefile to work at all. I downloaded it, put it in the fcs folder (I have the moviefile here too) in the FCEU folder. But FCEU doesn't detect the savestatefile at all. Aren't savestatefiles supposed to be named .fc1 and .fc5 and so on, and not .fcq? I tried changing the name of the file to .fc0 too, but the game still didn't detect the savestate. Has anyone else had this problem? Just watched the new WIP too, and I don't really have any comments on it. Looked very good, keep this up, CtrlAltDestroy.
