Post subject: Why does snes9x try to access my cdrom?

When i load a rom, my cdrom spins up for a few seconds and then the game starts. If I dont have anything in the cdrom drive, I get an error saying there's no disc in the drive. Is there a way to stop the emulator from trying to access my cdrom?

Do you think the problem is that it's scanning the entire contents of your computer rather than just the folder it's in?

Maybe its searching for latest loaded games. it used to happen to me on gens. Try loading 10 roms from your hard disk to erase the history from old loaded cd-rom games.

I've never loaded any roms from my cd-rom. I dont even have any roms/emulators or anything else on cd either. But its not happening to anyone else I guess.

It's a known problem, seems to pop up with people using more exotic setups perhaps related to the version of Windows NT...

The last I heard, it's a bug in some version of Windows. FYI, I have Windows XP, a CD drive, and a DVD drive, and I've had things in both of those drives on and off, and not once has Snes9x ever tried looking for something on them.

like i said, try loading 10 roms located on the hard disk so you can erase all history, maybe you copied it from some place that had loaded something from a cd-rom, dunno.

Have you tried doing the Snes9x restore trick (running snes9x.exe with the commandline parameter of -restore) and then restarting the whole computer when you have nothing in (no CDs or DVDs or floppies or zip disks etc.) and then starting up Snes9x and loading a ROM when there's still nothing in?
