Ah, Tim Follin of Solstice/Plok/Silver Surfer fame. I never heard this little gem before—that title theme is way too good for the hardware it played on (not to mention the game).

I enjoy listening to Pokemon music and my favourite battle theme is Pokemon FireRed/Leafgreem trainer battle. I like this particular theme because they took the original song and they added a lot of pitchbend nearly every bar which makes the melody sound more exciting. In 2013, I downloaded a FRLG midi pack from YouTube and in that pack was a trainer battle midi. The first time I listened to the MIDi, I was amazed on how accurate it was comparing to the original song and then I realised when listening to the midi that the song had pitchbend in it! So after playing the games for the first time 10 years ago. I didn't realise the battle theme had pitchbend in it until I heard the midi version. Then I found out how people rip GBA music from Roms and it actually sounds cool! So there is a story on a 10 year old game just got cooler with midi files 9 years later!

Thanks for pointing it out, RGamma. That is an interesting track. I kind of missed it even though I've TASed the game. Almost as noisy as Merzbow.

I agree. I've been wondering as to whether some really good video game tunes, like the orchestral pieces from Super Mario Galaxy, could be recognized as masterpieces alongside famous Baroque and Classical music and even some of the jazz songs from the early 1900s. I think they contribute quite a bit to video game culture, possibly to today's culture in general (everyone knows the Super Mario Bros. theme), though they may need to reach a wider audience first before they are recognized as something more significant to our time.

Here's one that's been a long time coming Unreal Tournament. I used to play UT99 and UT2004 so incredibly much when I was younger that the OST has burned itself into my brain. To anyone, I would just recommend putting on the entire OST (especially of UT99*) and listening, but for the sake of this post, here's some personal highlights as percieved by yours truly: UT99: The Course (Michiel van den Bos) Botmca#10 (Michiel van den Bos) Superfist (Alexander Brandon) And my two favorites: Foregone Destruction (Michiel van den Bos) Go Down (Alexander Brandon) That's just a small list, of course, there's a lot of other great songs in the series. Somewhere, you just have to make a pick. As for UT2004, as the game's OST is a whole lot larger and more homogenous to a degree, here's a small sampling of the game's many worthwhile tracks. KR-Corrugation-Rise (Kevin Riepl) KR-Roughinery (Kevin Riepl) level13 (Starsky Partridge) level16 (Starsky Partridge) *It's not that UT99's soundtrack is necessarily better than that of UT2004 unless you are into synths more, but it's generally more varied, making for a better listening experience overall.

There's quite a few, but most of them are obscure. Though for the most part: Suzuki Bakuhatsu: Even though it mostly doesn't have much of a soundtrack, when there is music, it's REALLY good music. Sadly, the only song from it around, as far as i know, is the ending music. Link to video Incredible Crisis: Very catchy, very awesome and it really fits the game aswell with it's fast pace and upbeat nature for the most part. Link to video Simpsons Skateboarding: ...No, this isn't a joke. Outside of the menu song, the soundtrack of this game is actually pretty good. One of my favourites is the Springfield Gorge.
