This is Super Mario Bros 3 in Super Mario All Stars.
<< Amazing run >>
This run has been done 1 year ago, but I never submitted that
Emulator used: snes9xw-improvement9
Options: Allow Left+Right / Up+Down
Take hit and use death to show funny things
Why would anyone like the result?: Some peoples wanted to see a full version of it few years ago.
Aim: Show funny things and bugs
-- Programming errors and funny things to see --
- Wall jump
- Pass through walls and floors
- Shells get stock in walls and pipes
- Death in the first mushroom house
- Take hit by nothing in the first boat
- Killed by my own box in 5-3
- Get many 1up with the same shell in 6-2
- Use hammers to kill Bowser
=> If you are interested in this movie, you can see my Super Mario World version too.

NesVideoAgent: Hi! I am a robot. I took a few screenshots of this movie and placed them here. Oh! I also corrected the ROM name.
  • You indicated Super Mario All Stars (U).smc
  • I updated it to Super Mario All-Stars (U) [!].smc

adelikat: This movie is a good example of a "superplay" movie that doesn't aim for fastest completion time. It shows precision, variety, and numerous tricks. Most importantly it shows off interesting aspects of the game that a fast completion type run can not.
Also, contrary to some people's beliefs, this type of movie DOES belong on the site; provided it meets certain quality standards. This movie does and I am accepting it for publication.

This movie was quite boring. I fell asleep 3 times. It was way to repetitive, and it didn't show off enough bugs (I'm not sure if there are enough bugs in the game). It consisted of going through walls and l+r, mainly. The highlight was the shell jumping 1ups, but even that couldn't save the run from the fate I'm going to give it. Sorry, I vote a strong no.

I found the run pretty cool. It surely was repitive but also interesting to see. My highlights: Level 3 of World 4 and of course the shell jumping 1ups. Yes vote.

And I vote no in the 2006 presidential election. Too bad it's as pointless as voting for a movie after it's been published.

Did you vote no or did you vote for hämähäkki väärinpäin?

I don't see how saying you enjoyed a movie (or not) is ever pointless, and that's what's being accomplished by voting in the poll... Anyway, I liked this run okay, there was a good number of moments where you brought a smile to my face. I don't know if it stands up over such a long movie, though. I was getting tired of it towards the end. Even so, I'll probably watch it again.

The poll is there to help the judges decide if the run should be published or not, so it actually is pretty pointless to vote after it's published.

I am currently watching it - I am up to the end of world 6 when the King Asks you for the Hammer Bros. outfit... I never knew that the hammer bros. outfit existed when I played the game...I knew the frog and "Raccoon" outfits existed...but I found it hard getting them when playing through myself on the NES/SNES (I had the original and all-stars.)

This is by far, the MOST ENTERTAINING TAS MOVIE i have ever seen, i don't seem to find any fair enough comments about this piece of work and creativity. AWSOME is just the word to describe it . I invited some friends some months ago, and while we where waiting to have both wireless controllers fully charged, i showed em the NES version of this run, I must say, i will invite them over again to watch this one, i know they will love it (they felt blow minded, but we could not finish watching the movie because we had some kind of version problem), anyway, it will be a great M.A.M.E. night with this beautiful movie as an appetizer. Thanks for your great work.

I'm thinking of doing a ponified encode as there is a ponified hack in the works. I'll start the encode just as soon as the graphics and text were modified. Imagine Princess Celestia going warp speed.

Please post these kinds of things in the MLP thread, not the publication/game threads.

Nice idea! Just ignore what haters are saying, a lot of viewers will enjoy it :)

What "haters"? I don't see anyone here who greatly dislikes something, all I see is someone telling the person to put it where it is meant to be dedicated at it's known as the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic thread, and not here.

Previous posts of these encodes are making me think otherwise. It's not "hate" to politely ask someone to keep MLP-related content to the MLP thread. Doing that is more sensible, and it actually prevents the thread from derailing into real hate. A lot of viewers can still enjoy these encodes, they just add literally nothing to the discussion at hand when they're posted here.

In my opinion, these encodes have way more relation to the game itself, than to that particular topic

But they really don't. There's absolutely no point to having them plastered in a community that, generally, doesn't care about MLP. It'd be like going to a Nintendo forum and posting videos with nothing but Sega characters. When there's a specific thread for fans of a specific show, and someone plans on creating content that revolves around that specific show, it's not unreasonable to expect said content to be posted in that specific thread. It's not unreasonable to assume a vast majority of the public has no intention of viewing this encode, and that a smaller minority is going to actively detest it. Meanwhile, the audience that the encode appeals to is already the entire audience of the MLP thread. So posting it there means it'll reach the exact same people without the hassle of 5 or 6 posts that say nothing but "why" from people who can't help but shitpost when presented with the opportunity. So only posting them to the MLP thread is a win/win: The entire target audience still sees the encode, while everyone outside of the target audience isn't forced to look at it. Nobody complains, and the less people are complaining, the better.
