I wonder if it works the same way for that Statue in LN right before Gold Torizo. If it works and depending on how much time it would save it could be interesting to test some ideas.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1041360429/100%25%20LN%20statue%20speed%20trick.smv hard to say if it saves time other than that: we have yet another way to get flash suit via CF: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1559648595/legit%20varia%20cf%20flash%20suit.smv http://puu.sh/mNUXh/7d3b45dffc.mp4 Works with gravity suit too , and could potentially be used to get WS reserve tank before speedbooster with the gained spark.

That statue trick is pretty awesome. I guess it requires an Rtank to work? If so, it would probably only be useful in a 100% run. Though it looks like it would save 20-25 seconds. Very nice find.

Yeah , reserve tank is what causes the glitch, by auto-triggering it during events like statue

Thanks for testing the LN stuff, Sniq. Not sure if it would work, but the idea was to reach LN suitless with exactly the needed amount of health to survive up to the statue's hand, then use the pause trick to enable the reserve tank + gravity suit, proceed to GT's room, collect the Missile pack, activate GT and Cristal Flash to recover all the health (unless it's enough to get bombed with health after his death) while in the activation cutscene. Probably worth investigating if it would save time over the reverse path the current 100% run takes. Edit: Btw, the problem I see with the gravity statue glitch is that you would have to waste all the health you have before reaching the statue, and after performing the trick you will not have enough health for both the Shinespark from the ship to the PB room in Crateria Mainstreet area and the shinespark through the gauntlet. I'm not sure how it will be possible to make all this work, but it would be pretty cool to see this trick in a run.

Reeve: keep in mind that flash suit is required for the LN statue thing. It's the only way to reach the door in acid fast enough , before samus teleports back to statue. also 200 reserve health is required or around 190-200

Didn't know about Samus teleporting back to the Statue's hand, but there's enough time to reach the door without a shinespark. It's a really cool trick and thanks for the research you've been doing on this game! LN Statue Stuff

Nice. I thought there's not enough time without spark but good to know it works without it

Damn, all kinds of crazy new things being found lately. I like this :) That flash suit technique is crazy! Are there any particular rules for where the bomb has to be placed or when it explodes? Just curious how hard that is to pull off outside of a TAS environment.

That difficulty can be measured from timing of input key in this video. Link to video

Nice! Thanks for the video. I'm gonna mess around with this just for kicks :) I wonder if this will work in any of the SM mods with weird physics, e.g. Airy. One way to find out! EDIT: I just remembered the suit upgrades are in the ground in Airy. Never mind.

Hey Total, do you have another link to your 13% proof-of-concept? I tried to show the VOD link to some friends and it either purged or you deleted it (Twitch doesn't say which.)

I forgot to highlight it so it seems twitch has eaten it, but that proof-of-concept is now quite outdated and there's a completely new route with some new tricks in it that we're working on. Hopefully it'll be done somewhat shortly and I'll make sure to post both a video and a lsmv of it :)

3 e-tanks mother brain standup glitch finally possible with usage of shinespark: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1237646980/any%25%20MB%20standup.smv http://puu.sh/novqJ/5177edcdcb.mp4

Amazing find, sniq!!! It not only saves a huge chunk of time for any% but probably any cathegory that collects Speed Booster! It's a good thing Taco took a break from the run he was doing, although this could probably be included without any problems given the trick is done in the end of the run. Again, great job!!!

flash suit is enough. so in theory 10-10-15 items enough with CF interruption flash suit method

I "found" it actually. I don't really like to use that phrase because it implies I was the first to ever notice it, which I can never say with total certainty about anything in this game, but I did make a video of it a few days ago for the SM speedrunning wiki, and discussed potential applications with sniq after showing it to him. We occasionally converse about such things. Any% would obviously be the most likely category for utilizing it, but depending on how other discoveries are factored in, it may not end up being as useful as it appears. Obviously MB3 only takes about 15 seconds to defeat without SUG, so depending on inventory, the timesave from this may not equate to much.

Nice, overfiend! This is really something! I can say that it will be as good for RBO as it will be for any%, given the new findings for the new any%.

I didn't know you discovered it, should have said something sniq. :( Anyway you've blown my mind with this AMAZING discovery Overfiendvip, Great Job!!! Edit: There has really been some game breaking discoveries lately, keep up the good work everyone!!!

Thanks guys. To be fair, sniq didn't specifically take credit (and sniq does appear to find nearly everything nowadays); I just felt like responding since he didn't comment that much on it. I do think it should see use in any category where it can be applied, just that its usefulness is primarily determined on the beams obtained in the run, so despite being elegant in appearance, it will likely save minimal time. That being said, considering how few stones there may be left to unturn in this game, I suppose it is great to hear that a handful of seconds can be saved in multiple categories at no real cost, so I probably should have phrased my post a little more positively. There's been so many new interactions found recently (especially in the past few months) that, more than ever before, it's difficult to take it all into account and know for certain what combinations of variables results in the fastest route for a category's TAS.
