I really want to see this game (with Bass) finally be done with. Three more stages isn't really that long as well, but if Maza wants to start his run at the beginning, that's fine as well. :)

I'm not going to start run with Bass since I'm pretty sure that Gigafrost's run wuold be much better than mine. And because he has almost completed the run. As I said before, I'll start to make run of some other game after few weeks (since I'm kinda busy with my school right now :( ). So if you have any ideas (for GBA or SNES), feel free to give 'em to me. I guess this got a bit offtopic and i apologize for that :)
Which run should I encode next? :)

How about Super R-Type for SNES? One of the most popular games and easy doing (TAS point of view).

Just throwing a lot of ideas out: Terranigma, a 100% Kirby Super Star, E.V.O., FFMQ, Lost Vikings 2, any of the Ren & Stimpy games. But, most of all, I want a run of Wizardry V. I'd love to see just how badly that game can be manipulated. Anyone who's played it knows how hard it is.

I think you should throw those ideat to me in private to prevent too much offtopic stuff in this topic. :) I btw started making trial run of Pokemon Crystal but I'm not at all sure yet that am I going to make that a full run. So I'd still like to here more suggestions for a run.

Maybe this stuff should go in "Top games that haven't been done yet on SNES". Also, is that 100% Kirby Superstar run posted anywhere? (It sounds interesting even if not perfect.)

Gigafrost, you still making you R&F run? It would be shame to leave it unfinished when you are so near the end.

I looked over it at the end of the Thanksgiving holiday in preparation of working on it some more, but I won't be able to touch it for the next week at least. In short, only a week and a half left of college, so naturally I've got final projects, homework, and final exams. So, yes, I have not forgotten about this and I do want to complete it, but I guess I forgot about it over the last two months. (I blame Robotics, mostly.)

Giga your run is awsome so far, I am happy to hear you are still working on it. If and when you finish this movie it could easliy be star material. Anyways I found a strange trick which allows Forte to levitate across open gaps, it may save some time in the intro stage. Here is a movie: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/380/Rockman%20%26%20Forte%20%28J%29%20%5B%21%5D.smv

Wow. That's an interesting trick. If I ever start the run over I'll look to use it. Kind of late now, though, hehehe.

Alright, first update in ~2 months. Because of the icy coldness there were no classes today and that gave me time for this small update. Again, here's the link: http://www.kraftfam.org/~erk/nesvideos/RnF.zip I only finished the boss of the stage. Naturally, since weapon energy isn't recharged between these stages I went for a more weapon-conservative strategy. Fortunately, because the Copy Vision fires every 10 frames and the boss is vulnerable every 91 frames, that means that each Copy Vision shot that hits is only 1 frame further to the right. The Vision lasts long enough to hit the boss *exactly* 4 times, so each hit is still as fast as possible. Oddly enough, even though I could jump earlier when the battle starts, if I jump too early it causes lots of lag or something. He doesn't seem to peek his head out until his health is full no matter how early you start your attack. Also, less respect for the programmers. The hit detection boxes for the coconuts and the mini propeller guys are rediculously huge! Anyways, I hope y'all enjoy this small update. :)

Man, re-read this thread and couldn't help but think about how long, slow, and dragged-out my run has been. Then, I realized that I really need to keep y'all informed. First, good news. Previously I had talked about the King Stage bosses being some of the most annoying ever. I managed to plan for all of them and know all of their weaknesses completely. (Searched for their HP in memory and did testing.) For starters, I was somewhat surprised that, contrary to what I understood (from a GameFAQs readme and maybe also from somebody else's continuation of my run) the Tank's three hit spots all have the same exact weaknesses. They each have 16 health, and they can only take 4 damage at most (from either the Ice Wall or the Lightning Bolt.) I've beaten this boss in my latest version and am quite pleased with the result. The flying boss has 34 health and takes 4 damage from an unsplit Ground Drill. Now I can die happy because this boss is FINALLY easy. King has exactly the same weaknesses whether or not he has his shield, interestingly, even though you can't beat King /w Shield before the Protoman cutscene. Why? Because he starts with 127 health when he has the shield and is set to 28 when it is broken. I even tried to kill him before Protoman appeared by locking the Lightning Bolt at max charge and I had no luck. But, yeah, he's weak against Lightning Bolt, and this battle will mostly drain it, but at the beginning of the final stage (just before Cold Man) I can recharge it as much as I need. Yay! The giant MECHAKING battle is simply a matter of using Burner Man which does 5 damage! That should be a quick battle. That just leaves Wily (since all the boss refights are, more or less, no brainers now) and, yeah, 9 Mine shots for the first mode (plus 1 normal shot) and 9 Magic Card shots (plus 1 normal shot) for the final battle. It should be plenty easy to keep that much ammo till then. :) So, now here's my latest run: http://www.kraftfam.org/~erk/nesvideos/RnF.zip I've defeated the Tank miniboss (took a hell of a lot of damage, but as you can see it worked really well.) I also defeated the Flying miniboss, but now that I've got a better idea how the drill does its damage I'm going to redo that battle (because I'm pretty sure I can hit the first shot earlier.) Oh. And I exploited a glitch in that fight. This run will now include in its description "dies to save time." Have Fun. :) Edit: Oh, and the informed part. This weekend might be too busy to work on it much. Saturday is my final final final exam, IE the last exam of the last class of the last semester, and afterwards I'M FREE!!!! FREEE!!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *worked to death* Sunday is my graduation celebration with my friends and family. But, as G.I. Joe said, knowing is half the battle, and now that I know how to kill all these annoying bosses and have a plan from this point to the end of the game I'm pretty eager to finally get this done!

So you figured out. I wanted to keep it a secret. :) Does the dying trick also work against King 1 and/or King 2? It works on the Robot Master rematches.

I'm not sure. I definitely need to test against King since that could potentially skip some cut scenes. (Although I think it will be a little trickier to test.) Fortunately, I don't think it would really save any time after the Tank, although I guess I should check anyways.

Well, my alarm didn't go off this morning, thwarting my plan of giving an update before leaving home. I'm at work right now, but I'll give a brief update and possibly a movie when I get home. For starters, I tested death-glitching the tank. It might be possible to shave a couple of seconds off of the boss by having the ice wall drop into the boss and you dying; creating the ice wall to damage the rear component. Basically, if you create the ice block on the component and die the frame afterwards, it's 8 frames slower. You basically need the ice block to live longer, and only creating outside of the tank and having it fall it could do that. I suppose it's possible to do, but at this point I'm too far along to want to try. I did redo the flying mid-boss and improved a surprising 4 seconds. Most of that was actually hitting the boss much earlier; I better understood how the drill does damage and realized why my previous attempts to damage it failed. I also optimized the death glitch really well. :D The death glitch doesn't work against King, but if you're fast enough then you can have text on the screen when you respawn in the 3rd mini-level. :) Interestingly enough, the final battle against King had the same glitch as Bass from Mega Man 7; the last hit deals damage to him even if he's flashing. So, basically I only had to hit him 5 times (which is good; I took a lot of damage in order to hit him as early as possible.) I'm currently just at the Magic Man rebattle in the final level. There's a problem, though. Up to that point in the stage, my Tengu ability went to 8 bars at the lowest, meaning that one of the energy capsules I grabbed before is unneeded. I'll measure the one before King and the one before Pirate Man with the hope of not having to start over with King to fix. I'll probably also experiment with hex editting to see if I can fix it, but I'm not very hopeful about any of these panning out well. Since this error is so obvious, I don't think I want to submit with it in there, either. I'll try to remember to post the latest movie when I get home tonight. I would like to see this game done quick with MegaMan.

Me too. Megafrost demonstrated that it would be interesting because of Mega Man's more limited movement. Of course, I'd also like to see it done quick with anybody; it's been 14 months since I started my run and by golly it needs to be finished. On that note... I didn't do a lot of work over the weekend, but I did determine whether or not I'll fix the extra energy problem. As I mentioned, I would either not pick up the energy before King, or not pick up the energy before Pirate Man. Starting from before King would, again, kill my enthusiasm. The good news is that both energy capsules resulted in 15 frames of delay. Since it doesn't matter which one I skip, naturally I'll be skipping the one before Pirate Man. Yay! ^_^
