Post subject: How to TAS the latest VVVVVV?

So I have tried a few times to use Hourglass r81 to make a TAS of VVVVVV 2.2. With Masterjun's VVVVVV TAS submission saying that he used 2.0 and also that he used a multithreading setting (I think it was allow or wrap). But is Hourglass compatible with version 2.2, or do I need to find a way to downgrade to 2.0. -F4LL0U7

I am about 90% sure that the version choice was intentional in terms of gameplay/glitches, not because more recent versions don't work. But yeah, there's really no reason not to try it out yourself first. Make sure to report back and let us know if it works or not, in case others want to try.

I chose 2.0 simply because 2.2 wasn't released yet. It is quite possible that 2.2 works with hourglass, and if you seriously want to TAS it then I suggest using Windows XP (I installed it on a virtual machine), because the game tended to crash after just a few rerecords, making TASing a very slow and annoyingly painful process. Back when I was trying to sell dwangoAC on pitching the "20 Trinkets in No Death Mode" run for Summer Games Done Quick, I was unable to get VVVVVV 2.2 to run via Hourglass. The process VVVVVV.exe appeared in the Task Manager, but the game window never popped up. To be fair though, I was testing on Windows 7 (both x86 and x64.)

Well alright. So I am using Windows 10, I think that seems to be the problem. I might try to set up a virtual machine (pretty bad PC so i guess it would take up alot of RAM and might be a bit slow) but it changes my idea of trying to TAS it with this process. Thanks.
