This movie improves the currently published [3147] NES Vegas Dream by TheRealThingy in 00:53.16 by 174 frames thanks to pressing a B button and better luck manipulation.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: FCEUX 2.2.2
  • Grabs some cash
  • Aims for shortest input
  • Manipulates delays/numbers heavily

General

The fastest way to get insane cash is playing the Keno as a Mr. We put some bet and pick enough numbers to get 1 million dollar. After the draw, leave the game, enter slots, leave the game, game over.

Detailed informations

0x7010 delay timer. Minimum is 0x1E and highest number should be 0x29. The delay timer can "overflow", and reinitialize with a small ammount (from 3 to 7). The subroutine is located @ $B182.
The numbers I rolled and the delays I could reduce is...
  • 70 - 0x1E
  • 60 - 0x1F
  • 50 - 0x1E
  • 40 - 0x1E
  • 20 - 0x22
  • 10 - 0x1E
  • 30 - 0x25
  • 55 - 0x24
  • 62 - 0x28
  • 80 - 0x28
  • 51 - 0x20
  • 52 - 0x27
  • 18 - 0x20
  • 64 - 0x29
  • 46 - 0x1E
  • 30 - 0x1F
  • 48 - 0x21
  • 31 - 0x22
  • 4 - 0x1E
  • 7 - 0x1E
  • 39 - 0x23

Miscellaneous

As you can see, the game is entirely depends on that subroutine and your input, so a bot probably could find a better sequence and obsolete this movie.

Samsara: Judging.
Samsara: Accepting as an improvement to the published run. The rating of the previous publication and the votes on this submission warrant a drop to Vault, however.
feos: Since I have a dump already...

Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

Nice umm... run... Probably well executed and somewhat interesting, but not very entertaining. If I had some experience with this game (and understood more of the technical stuff involved), I might appreciate this at some level more. Also, if the chosen numbers were drawn in order (from 10 to 80) or at least be the first or last drawn numbers, that would increase entertainment value a lot. (I think it might be impossible (without speed/entertainment trade off) though.) The voting is for entertainment, thus I vote no, as I would have if I had been voting for that previous run of this game. Nevertheless, good job for the improvement.

Well, I don't find keno interesting IRL either. Regarding the numbers chosen, it's the fastest and shortest one. The draw of the numbers are impossible to manipulate without losing frames at a large degree (1~80 each time). There are 80 numbers and you have 0x1E (30 frames) to manipulate your desired number from the random seed (input + name is the seed). Since not every value is possible to manipulate in the shortest window (because of the RNG), I had to stick with my original seed and minimize the delays as low as I could. A perfect TAS would bruteforce all the 1 letter named Mr. and manipulate 10 to 80 with the lowest delays (30 frames) for all the numbers. This TAS "loses" 75 frames from the theoritically (not really possible) movie.

This run is very Vegasy, very gamblingy, fortunately also winningy, in other words lucky. The ending also teaches us that no amount of money can buy one class. I guess I'm voting 'meh'.

At least he's not obsoleting a blackjack run with this Keno run. :)
I am still the wizard that did it. "On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer." -- Satoru Iwata <scrimpy> at least I now know where every map, energy and save room in this game is
