Another stage which won't sync, no matter what, is Creepy Caverns! I've spent some time wondering, how come Love R got so lucky here? I mean, all the barrels just in the perfect setup, how cool is that!? Well, looks like he was not so "lucky" after all; he simply found out a way to manipulate the barrels inside the stage. Here's what I think how it's done; Making a barrel spawn again advances the RNG of the next one, but not all of them. Moving the camera or wasting some frames are some ways to do that. So, another stage that will take some time to finish...

I went back to this, and found that I was indeed exiting Wrinkly's Cave 2 frames too early. Fixing this actually saved frames; the overworld loaded sooner. This also changed the RNG, so I re-did the bananas bonus level. [without trying to luck manipulate] I was reasonably lucky, being able to get every banana as soon as it appeared. The last banana was towards the left side, though. The first lag frame after reaching the flag is now at frame 6,528. Here's my new input in a tasproj: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jlrv20nx3ygsn9h/DKC3_Input.tasproj?dl=0

Sounds like this could be something that happens often throughout the run. Check many frames when going through loading screens.

I think it has more to do with that the game has different/less stuff to do in the background (and maybe it started sooner too), than with random timings. I've had several different times entering other load screens without seeing more than a 1-frame difference.

Hi, guys. I'm dusting off my TAS tools, I'm not doing any serious work at the moment, but DKC3 needs some attention after that new trick was found, so I'm trying it. According to a YouTube guy, the Bleak skip is only possible on the Japanese ROM. You must lose all your Kongs and pause the game when the screen is fading. Weird.

As shown in your 105% run (#2941: Dooty, ElectroSpecter & Tompa's SNES Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! "105%" in 1:41:39.80), it's possible to enter the 8th boss stage with only 52 bear coins and trigger the true ending. What would the completion rate be if that is done?

I'm out for quite some time, so memory is still foggy. But if I'm not mistaken, the boss of The Lost World only gives you a DK coin. You must save all those Banana Birds to watch the true ending. But... combining your idea of entering The Lost World + the glitch that Kurabupengin showed seems promissing! I don't know that much of Spanish (English too, LOL), but that seems the requirement for that glitch: 1) enter the rocket stage with Dixie alone 2) break Kiddy's barrel from above 3) get to the end of the stage You'll be teleported to Door Stop Dash, but you can't complete it. Seems useless at the moment, but what if we can teleport to somewhere else?

Yes, you need all DK coins to save all Banana Birds. Even then, you can skip 32 Bonus Coins. I wonder if the true ending automatically gives you 105% or it only raises your completion rate by a certain percentage.

If the Rocket Rush glitch in DKC3 is anything like similar glitches in DKC2, then you're not actually being teleported to Doorstop Dash, but an uncompletable copy of Doorstop Dash that is actually a debug level in slot "0". It seems that the game is trying to warp, but has no destination, so it sends you to "level 0." It is unlikely that it would be possible to warp anywhere else. Of course, it could be totally different to how similar glitches work in DKC2, so it's still worth looking at. EDIT: Yeah, the unfinished Doorstop Dash is level 00. This is likely a dead end unless you can somehow manipulate the destination.

No, it does not. Everything must be collected. Even talking to Wrinkly Kong is needed to give you 105%, mind you. @ Kles; Too bad it's not really Door Stop Dash. There's a pretty useless wrong warp on DKC2 too; you must Kill Kleever, the second boss, switch the Kongs then go to the left side of the stage. It's really difficult to get it right even with tools, but when you succeed you'll go straight to Krank's Cabin. Anyhow, the Bleak's skip saves ~3200 frames! It's a Japanese exclusive trick, so the any% improvement must be done on Super Donkey Kong 3. Now, even Kaos fight being ~1800 frames slower, it's still worth switching to the Japanese version.

There is no emulator information in the description at all so I can't tell. I just embed nico videos in the same way I embed youtube videos.

Hey guys, I've been working on a new TAS for DKC3 Any% lately. I've got a long way to go before it's done, but so far the improvements in movement alone have been encouraging. I figured it might be a good idea to show bits and pieces of it to get some feedback. To start, here's my version of Ripsaw Rage: Link to video What do you guys think?

I liked the barrel juggling you did and how close you got to the saw. I hope you get to continue with this tas since i am enjoying what you are sharing.

I haven't quantified the individual levels beyond making sure each one is at least as fast in each section, and since I'm doing this on J 1.0 instead of U (I'll have to check J 1.1 afterward since Belcha is faster on it) AND on a "slower" emulator, it's hard to say exactly how many frames have been saved from new tricks and movement. With that in mind, I'm 450 frames ahead at the start of Ripsaw (and lose 5 frames in that stage due to the goal being slightly higher...)

I figured it might be a good idea to share a sample of the sort of improvements I'm talking about with movement. Since I've locked down a variety of useful bytes, including both Kongs' X, Y, dX, and dY (including subpixels!), the same for the Toboggan, and more, I can fine-tune the movement much more precisely than Dooty could with just the dX and dY. With that in mind, here's what a comparison of Demolition Drain-Pipe looks like: Link to video

Hey guys! I know I haven't said anything here in quite a while, but I've been steadily working on this using Disappeared's TAS (the 42:40 one) as a starting point and sharing any new tricks on the DKC3 strategy discord. The TAS is actually nearly done; I'm on K Rool! Unfortunately, there has to be RNG involved here as well to make things more complicated. If anyone has any questions about Disappeared's TAS, I should be able to answer them at this point. Everything will be explained in the submission as well, of course. As a teaser, here's a comparison of Lightning Lookout, one of the bigger time saves compared to Disappeared: Link to video Enjoy!
