Thank you very much for doing this job, now this TAS can be done completely! I am looking forward to make it.
I require first name in the list of co-author for that tas. Thanks /s Literally took me 5 minutes to go from not knowing how to do it to posting the IPS here, enjoy!

All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros. also requires getting 8 stars to access the extra worlds. That and VS. Super Mario Bros. replace 6 of the original 32 levels. All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros. had B-1 changed to 5-1 from Lost Levels and C-4 is replaced with 7-4 of Lost Levels. All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros. is easier than VS. Super Mario Bros. aside from 5-3 and 6-4 because they are 4-3 and 4-4 of the respective Lost Levels levels. The New Strange Mario Bros. has 37 levels, but the last level crashes at the end. 1-Square or 37 modulo 4. Getting an axe an any level ends the world. I wonder what would happen if you used the bootleg cart with Tennis? Nothing as there is no continue code. Even swapping disks will cause read errors. Imagine using a Game Boy Advance and if you had an e-Reader+ with Tennis loaded on it and swapped it with Famicom Mini Super Mario Bros. 2. They brought back the continue code. The cartridge swapping technique won't work on the Game Boy Player. That means you have to use a camera to record the footage of World E. No pun intended. After grabbing an axe in worlds E or later, the game ends. I'm not sure if this technique would work. On Famicom Mini Super Mario Bros. 2., B+Start is used for the extra worlds.

dhxo: The /s at the end of the message means 'this mesage was sarcastic'. So you don't have to do that actually.

Thanks for telling me that. I didn't know that. The IPS patch doesn't work for me. Nothing from the title screen changes after patching. Is it working for anyone else? Thanks.

Here is the patch: http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=21340286801092063351 As said before - Fceux emulated fds saving by creating new fds rom. So i beat the game 8 times, and then i just compare original rom vs rom after beating game 8 times. So it's legit as possible. edit: you can do this by yourself. New rom saves in: fceux folder -> sav You can just replay tas 8 times. So you open original rom, replay tas on it. Close the emulator to save fds savestate in a rom. Go to "sav" folder. Open new fds rom. Play tas on it. Do this 8 times.

The IPS worked for me after running the game in Bizhawk, but I will try again. Edit: It appears it only worked because I reloaded the patched file (which had the same name as an unpatched), thus it loaded the cheat file automatically. Will try to figure out why and how, but in the meantime the patch posted by Koh1fds does work.

Koh1fds's patch didn't work for me, either. I've tried loading the patched ROM with FCEU, FCEUX, and BizHawk, and nothing changes from the title screen. Am I doing things wrong... :|

If I remeber correctly, in your ips-patcher program, you load the patch, choose the rom you want to patch and then click on create patch. If you did everything like this, then I don't know either :\ I am trying this tomorrow and then I see myself if this works. EDIT: Click on "apply patch"

Do you think there is any chance of manipulating a fish in World 2-3 of SMB2j to get into the ground to skip the flagpole like in HappyLee's SMB -3 ending run?
Yes. It's hard, so I've made a demonstration (fcm): Link to video This only makes sense in the warpless run of the original FDS version of SMB2J, which currently we don't have. "The Lost Levels" from Super Mario All Stars forces Mario to go into the castle, making it not useful, along with special endings of some other stages. PS: This might be the wrong thread for discussion. There's an SMB2J thread.
Could you please convert this fcm into fm2 because my FCEUX can't convert fcm's if the movie starts from a save state. I need this to see how exactly you manipulated the fish because I am really really bad in RNG manipulation. PS: Your new video on Youtube is great! (though this doesn't fit into this forum)[/url]

It's just a demonstration. You can't see how the RNG manipulation is done since it starts from a save state. I have no better way than to try different combinations of killing during running, and maybe slow down a little bit before the last Cheep-cheep jumps.

Grrrrr...:\ That's alright, I am just trying a little bit and then it will work (I hope). The worst thing is that this has to be probably done in world A-3 too...

May have found a new strategy for 3-1 of SMB2j. Not sure if any TASes use this, but it seems pretty useful: When you come out of the warp, run to the edge of the pipe and jump so you hit one of the blocks. Release the jump button and keep running, and if you hit the wall correctly, you should pass through. Interestingly, this is much easier to pull off than it sounds, and the difficulty (e.g. frame perfect inputs) of strategies doesn't even matter in TAS. If anybody's considering making or improving on a SMB2j warpless TAS that doesn't already use this, it may be a useful trick. Although it may be faster to just skip the pipe altogether, idk. Any thoughts? EDIT: Just learned from this TAS that it is way faster to skip the pipe. Oh well.

That's an example of using a hidden coin block to enter a wall, one of the easiest tricks. Warpless TAS and RTA runs of FDS SMB2J use it to go through the pipe in 6-1 all the time.

Has anyone ever done a TAS of Super Mario Bros the Lost Levels NES, starting from the beginning and going to World 9? I heard that you have to complete the games 8 times in a row without turning off the console.

I would like to see a TAS in getting the maximum coins possible. We did one in SMB1, what about this one? For All-Stars, going into a warp zone pipe without triggering the text still counts as a warp.
