This TAS takes advantage of boss quick kills by either manipulating which direction the sword will fly when connecting for damage, or by outright catching the sword. A 1 hit quick kill was recently discovered for Horned Witch, which is a frame perfect trick. I found a way to skip ahead on 2 forms of the Stone Wizard on the final level, while also maintaining control of the sword. Some stage secret rooms were used to advance the level quickly.
The objective of the game is to kill the Stone Wizard's final form on stage 8, and rescue the kidnapped girl.
This movie was created using BizHawk's TAS studio, version 1.11.9
I believe this TAS video is optimized to the best of my ability. The only potential change I could forsee is if a faster kill for the 4th stage boss, Green Grub, can be found, however I'm not sure its possible.

Masterjun: Judging.
Masterjun: Replaced file with a 1831 frames shorter file due to blank input at the end. Be careful with that!
Masterjun: An older submission of this game was rejected 11 years ago, due to game choice and optimization problems. Though, we have the Vault now (which this game is eligible for), and this run is really well optimized, so there is no problem in accepting it now.
Accepting to Vault as a fastest completion.
feos: Pub.

If this gets published, the whole trilogy will be complete. I'll vote yes after I watch.

All in all, a nice little run, but there were a couple things that seemed counter-intuitive to me. In particular, at certain points (level 5, mostly) you seemingly miss vertical jumps that look like they should have been makeable, only to jump again and make it from the closer position. I'd really like to know the reasoning behind this before I cast my vote. Edit: Just noticed that the other submission mentioned by Warepire explains these. So, incoming Yes vote.

Ouijawii, be careful with blank input at the end. It made this run ~30 seconds slower for nothing! I replaced the movie file with the faster version. Judging incoming.
Warning: Might glitch to credits I will finish this ACE soon as possible (or will I?)

Oh wow, thanks for catching that I wasn't 100% sure where to end the movie. (this is my 1st TAS submission) I'm guessing the last line should be the final input then.

Yup! If you're unsure about some things then you can ask in the Newbie Corner forum or just carefully read through our Submission Instructions (and thus also the Movie Rules and Guidelines).

  • It should end with the last input. Don't leave any blank input at the end of the movie.
