Hey, I just wondered at which moment a TAS should end. Which of these two points should you reach as fast as possible: * Credits * Point at which no further input is required to get to the credits

The time stops at the last input, so at the point at which no further input is required to get to the credits

Both are acceptable options. Some prefer one way, others prefer the other way. It's a stylistic choice. For judging purposes, if one movie does one way and another movie does the other, the difference is not counted as an improvement, unless there's a community/voting consensus that definitely prefers one of the two methods.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

Wrong. It's a stylistic choice. Read the reply by Mothrayas for more information.
Warning: Might glitch to credits I will finish this ACE soon as possible (or will I?)

So I miss-understood his question. I'm considering that to reach the credits in the fastest way, you need to go to a point at which no further input is required to get to the credits as fast as possible

Yeah and that's wrong. It's a stylistic choice. Read the reply by Mothrayas for more information.

I red it and as I understand it, it's just a route choice.

Btw, Stovent, the two things you said are completely different from another: the point at which no further input is required to get to the credits means, ending input as soon as the game would play itself out (like getting hit but still reaching the goal, etc), a point at which no further input is required to get to the credits as fast as possible means, continuing input as long as necessary to avoid delaying credits in any way. Since you already read the reply by Mothrayas, you should know that both are possible and that it's a sylistic choice.

Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

Perhaps more precisely (and as has been suggested many times in the past): The input should be ended at the point where no further input can make the ending be reached faster.

What about a game that has a mini-level that plays until after the credits? Should i leave it at the last input before the credits or do i have to complete that level?

Well, the Kirby & the Amazing Mirror run along with the Smash Bros Melee run both do it, so you can complete it I guess? What game do you have in mind?

Didn't Phil try to submit a Mario Bros movie by using a more arched jump at the end? http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1542&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Reminds me of what I did in the Jurrasic Park NES TAS. I think you should include it if there's no way to skip it.
