Not really. I never really knew how good my tasing skills with Knuckles was until now. If you think it's good enough I may look into it at some point.
The first thing I'll probably do with that is try to find a way to get Knuckles into the Sonic's start in lava reef 1 again. I remember getting very close last time.
Here's where I'm very close (this is at the end of the level btw). What I want to do here is clip through the floor above onto the tile that knuckles is standing on. Do you think it's doable?
I think a stair clip is possible in the first and second stair, but I do not guarantee that Knuckles fall directly into that solid place, in theory is possible.
It would be best if you ask yogwog about this since he did an investigation while doing his movie a few years ago.
Yeah stair clipping could work. Knuckles won't need to fall directly onto it if he's stair clipping though. He could somehow manuver onto it with his gliding since he jumped.
What I was trying to do is glide clip through the floor. I think I got reasonably close to succeeding.
Hmm. Seeing Orkal videos in Lava Reef, I think you can do the "ACT 1.5" glitch, and climb to the sky in the unloaded ACT 2 and back to Sonic's start, later you can enter in a starpost or giant ring and reset the glitch, finish ACT 1 again, and I guess ACT 2 can load now, it's a theory but it's the best thing that came to me.

Yeah you can get into Sonic's area like that. Problem is the act 1.5 glitch prevents you from being able to progress further even after reloading the level.
It doesn't matter though. I found a method that's simpler and faster. I also showed off Knuckles collecting all 95 rings Sonic's area (this includes the one collected in yogwog's tas).

Thanks and I'm glad I finally did. It took me 3 maybe even 4 long sessions to find that.
Now that I found that I might do a lava reef 1 ring attack with knuckles sometime in the future.
Oh my God. I'm speechless. You don't know how many hours I spent trying to get the stair clip... I never would have thought that innocuous lava pit was the missing key. Well done, m8. You may not go down in history for this discovery but, in my own personal history book (that doesn't really exist, sorry), you've definitely earned a spot. Seriously though, amazing! Between this and your contributions to Sonic and Tails' ring count in AIZ, you've done some really great work.
How did you find it? Just curious the story behind it.
I'm proud to be in your nonexistent history book yogwog.
As for how I found that. I'm gonna start off by saying that stuff like the AIZ knuckles rings or the ICZ signpost monitors just took a bit of trail and error with some knowledge of the game to figure out. Overall I never really have much difficulty finding strats like that.
Getting Knuckles into Sonic's area in lava reef 1 however was ridiculous. I practically flipped this level upside down trying figure this out.
When I first started I didn't even think about getting to Sonic's area from the roof. As you would expected nothing I tried worked. Eventually I just gave up.
Sometime later I decided to try again. I used debug mode to see what the terrain in the roof was like. I realized it was very easy to navigate through. So now I was trying to get Knuckles to the roof. After searching for possible spots to get to the roof I found 2 areas. That lava pit (The object clipped me through the wall when I went into it with debug) and that spot at the end of the level (I think we were both going for the same thing there). After hours of no success I gave up again.
That is until recently. After I did my DEZ2 ring attack with Knuckles I realized that I knew more about Knuckles (mostly with glide clips) so I tried again.
I went for those 2 spots again. I started off with the area at the end. I was mostly trying to glide clip through it since the stair clip wouldn't work. The closest I got was a strange interaction with the floor clipping me into the wall (shown below). Sadly I couldn't jump nor get onto that solid tile from there.
I went to the other spot because I wondered if I could get something similar to happen there. I managed to clip into the wall. Going left did practically nothing and going right zipped me back inbounds. Since I was so far in the wall I wondered if a fully charged spindash would give me enough speed to clip through it. As luck would have it did.
Nah go ahead. I'll just do Sonic's sky sanctuary with Knuckles instead.
Oh you were already done. Well your run was awesome. So many monitor clips and amazing tricks in general.
Don't worry about me. I never even started doing a testrun.
Here it is. A ring attack in Sonic's Sky Sanctuary with Knuckles. It was relatively simple to make (with the exception of one of the superglides) but I felt like it needed to be done regardless.

I really enjoy your run, very funny movements and aesthetically nice :), Good job!
On the other hand I finally finished with LBZ1, here is.

I really enjoyed this level, the feeling of speed is felt at all times, it was fun.
Oh wow that is old. It certainly shows how far you've come despite the fact that you don't tas anymore.
I will admit that I never thought about using that ring monitor to skip the second boss. I might improve my SSZ and DEZ2 runs if I find a way to beat the DEZ1 miniboss with Knuckles legitimately. I wonder if there's a way for him to get slope glitch on that level.
On another note I'm glad the Sonic and Tails run is back on track too and is still impressive as always.
Here's a DEZ1 testrun.

This one took me nearly 20k rerecords to make. I was able to do most of the level at my normal pace, but there were a few segments that took me a lot of effort to get through.
The very start. After about 500-1,000 rerecords (it might be much less) I've concluded that letting Sonic gain control by himself was the fastest way to get through there. I could still be wrong though.
The turbine room. I thought this would be a quick segment, but then I found myself spending 4 hours with around 4-5k rerecords. I honestly didn't think that this dumb turbine room would take me so much effort lol.
And finally there's the miniboss. I tried to get through phase 1 without letting Sonic lose his shield (even though you'd actually want to lose the shield) but that turned out to be a big waste of time. So I just used the method in the current any% tas. I actually had to redo the fight once to make Sonic and Tails switch places because I couldn't deal hit 7 without getting hit myself. After all that madness I was able to pull off a frame perfect phase 1. I'm so glad that phase 2 was much easier. The entire fight took me nearly 5k rerecords to complete.
The gmv. I screwed up the sound options again. I'm pretty sure it won't cause any desyncs but you might get low pitched sounds.

There's now just 3 more levels that neither of us did any runs are which are SOZ2-LRZ2. If I'm going to do them (which I likely will) I'll put them all in one gmv.
Excellent job friend, tobe a testrun for my eyes I do not notice any big improvement in this TAS made by you, maybe only the carry clip at 1:05 I see it very sloppy (maybe?). If you decided to fix this I can copy directly you input to the movie happily
Other question: do you have activated "Allow left+right" (<>) in gens? in Sonic games this will be useful to spindash quickly above objects and in Sonic 2 to save time; As Example: if you don't have +128 acceleration above a object you can fix this with <> ; 255 - 127 - 128 - spindash / input: < < <> <v ; is the same if you have +257, you can try to verify it.
I give you this advice because I noticed that you lost some frames in AIZ2 in the bridge while I reviewing this area, but it's okay, the idea is to learn so your TASes increase the quality in the future.

[<>] is also useful in stages like DEZ1, when Sonic starts entering the viewport from the left, there is one special frame when the game accepts D-pad input, and pressing [<>] gives Sonic slightly more horizontal speed in the beginning of the stage.
