I made segmented run (not real TAS) that shows all new strats and some cool glitches. Yeah, the wrong warp thing was discovered by Yogidamonk back when this game was in Big 20

How to reproduce this warp glitch? Is there any tutorial? Am I need to do this for TAS? Or better without?

I didn't study the details, but my understanding was that if you get high enough above the top of the screen the internal checkpoint variable will be advanced. Not sure if it works everywhere or just some places. Once you've done that you can just death abuse to be warped forward. This definitely saves time in some places, so you should do it anywhere it saves time probably.

I also found this game crash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOH4DqUkzaM Basically, game doesn't like when scrolling changes from Vertical to Horizontal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpPta-YRAFw edit: i also checked every possible place for those check point / death warps. I don't think that there are any other places where it works. I also don't think that there are any other big time saves left in this game other than some crazy glitches with scrolling

I'm still sure that this strat not only looks x1000 cooler, but also faster. Damage boost at the end of the ice stage saves almost nothing and the hearth-massage boss randomly gives 2 hp. I don't think that it's that hard to manipulate those 2 hps. And that jump at the end of the mine cart section doesn't look that fast https://youtu.be/MdWzem5J_K4?t=576

I compared both runs. In this picture - last frame of 206th second. In my run ape is closer to the end.

Last frame of 206 second with screen warps strats using 2 hp. I think it's pretty obvious that in my video from the first post it doesn't even close to optimal There are some other questionable parts, but i'm too lazy to prove every single obvious time save
