http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

I'm disappointed to notr see my suggestion from last year in the award list. http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=464196#464196 Still a very good year with a lot of good movies. I didn't watch as much as I wanted. But I still have the next years :D

We're not going to add an award for who writes the most compelling novel, which may not even be true.

Fair enough! I didn't see any discussion of this on the forum. So I thought it was looking good kinda since it was well received last year.

I wasn't among those who said it was looking good. I was asked about it on IRC then, and again about it now, and my response is along the lines of: If I want this award, I'll go submit some game no one noticed, and write 50 pages about how I pulled the game apart, wrote simulations, calculated, brute forced, ran all kinds of AI algos, did memory tracking and computations, spent 10 years on it, voila, here is my TAS. <Nach> there's nothing objective to measure <Nach> I can see how many frames a run is and verify it <Nach> I can watch it and see how entertaining it looks <Nach> I have no way of verifying your submission notes

I could see an award for a run that looked really complicated to plan work similar to how there are awards for TASes that appear speedy or lucky. The one thing I could see as a major downside to such an award would be the amount of potential overlap with Lucky.

[16:08:10] <BenLubar> a TAS is just the limit of a segmented speedrun as the segment length approaches zero

We used to have an innovative award which largely overlaps with the concept, but people stopped wanting that award. In general, I'm open to any award based on what you see directly in the movie itself, and can be verified by watching and some minor knowledge of the game. Beyond that, I am not open to awards that requires putting faith in the author.

Does this mean there is no innovation in TASing anymore?

Innovation award? I would nominate keylie for inventing linux trasparent layer =)
TASing is like making a film: only the best takes are shown in the final movie.
