I'm continuing the any% run, but I'm trying to obsolete the current run. Sadly, I'm
using the American version of KSS, meaning I can't do glitches like going upwards
with jet or soaring downwards with fire. Also I found an "intended" trick with ice.
Walk in any direction and then press Y. You'll eat the object and press Y again to spit
it out. This is actually useful in the Lololo and Lalala boss fight. I'm going to post
an KSS ice TAS Spring Breeze video soon.

In Float Islands, I did a massive improvement in the Lololo and
Lalala boss fight, thanks to the CPU helper. Unfortunately, time
is lost due to the CPU helper moving upon touching the star
that ends the level.

I realized when I did my own Dyna Blade TAS it unlocked Revenge of Meta knight.
So GCO might not be required for the any% WIP.

i only have the usa version of kirby super star so i can't do interesting things like soar upwards with jet or glitch downwards with fireball
btw the any% wip is slow and i'm using snes9x "v1.55" which isn't supported by tasvideos because my dad downloaded it for me
so i can intendly play snes games
i don't know if the rng on that snake that bites you like if it jumps early like the one near the 3rd treasure not the 2nd hidden one then spit the inhaled enemy out and eat it.
is that good rng?

Given that you said your dad downloads snes9x for you, I assumed you must be very young?
The very least I can do is to assist you with some information.
The Japanese TASers (OGA, smns72 and others) have worked on an any% TAS, done on the Japanese version, on snes9x-rr 1.43, in 2009 or so.
I worked on an 100% TAS myself (with help from OGA) in 2009-2010 or so, done on the Japanese version, on snes9x-rr 1.43.
Both of those WIPs have no video right now, so it's probably hard for a newcomer to even know these things exist. The movie files for these WIPs can be found in this older post: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=299051#299051
But remember that you need snes9x 1.43 and the Japanese version to play them back.
AntyMew worked on any% in 2015 with promising results but at some point stopped posting new progress. You can find his progress reports in older posts in this topic.
Maybe you can learn from watching these older WIPs.
Having the Japanese game (and Bizhawk) is definitely a good thing if it's possible at all for you. On the other hand, perhaps you can find enjoyment in just TASing for fun and working on your own little projects in this game. Everyone started somewhere after all. I started in Super Mario Land 2 in 2006 and had to learn everything bit by bit. It's good to have someone to assist you, but I fear I will not be able to play that role. Maybe you can join the TASvideos IRC chat to find help there?

I've started KSS spring breeze tas in 2019, with the first one
being with the fire ability. Then I knew about the old reset trick
but i don't know if it saves time on US version so I did it.
I'm not very good at Jet and Suplex abilities, since I don't know
how to like do the thing where when Kirby grabs an enemy he
does some stomp on it, not the down + Y trick that's something
different like everytime kirby does a punch on it which if done
correctly, kills both lololo and lalala in that boss fight. Sorry for
capitalization. I'm working on the any%, but since I'm American and not Japanese, and I only have the US version of
the game, it might encounter some issues.
My favorite copy abilities for KSS are Wing, Fire, and Suplex.
They're powerful abilities but since like I said, Fire glitch
doesn't work on US version, I lose time, but oh well. I might
do a NoUp&Down/Left&RightGlitches% run or the any% no
up and down or left and right glitches.
Although I have saw and knew about the helper hover clip
glitch that saves time in Dyna Blade, it doesn't work.
I'm talking about the glitch that was used in was0x's 100%
no up and down or left and right run.

I'm sorry I can't help with most things. Like I said, I will not be able to play the assist role for you. The Jet grab thing, it might only work if you are fully charged and near an enemy.
The hover clip does work but only with certain helpers. Ice will work, but Beam won't.

It almost work with CPU helper (like in was0x's 100% no up+down and left+right glitches) but my demonstration isn't
working out just yet.
That's because the Helper CPU seems to follow Kirby even when
Kirby's flying, and that can ruin some of my runs with the Wheelie
helper.

Yes, it was recorded on Bizhawk (snes9x-core), which means it will work on stand-alone snes9x-rr versions as well.

Which part specifically? Videos and time stamps please.
I think because snes9x-rr 1.43 (OGA, smns72) is inaccurately slightly faster than the more console-accurate Bizhawk-bsnes core (AntyMew). Also AntyMew was going for a different strategy.

The movie file won't work on V1.55 or (U) versions. The file
I use is Kirby Super Star.smc, without the region stamp and
it's USA version. However the ROM name is "KIRBY SUPER

with the Wing Ability.
Although there's a glitch in Kssu where when you take damage
from something like lava or Gordos when you do Bomber Heading
you appear to fly up or down. A better explanation is on

I'm recording the video for you to watch so you can see what's possible and to get an idea of the level of optimization. Everything in the Japanese version is pretty much also possible in the English version except for the "up+down, left+right" glitches.

The game engine is vastly different between Kirby Super Star (SNES) and Kirby Super Star Ultra (DS), so everything that applies for one version does not apply for the other version. I know the bug you are talking about, but it doesn't have anything to do with KSS.

The VC version did reduce flashing to prevent seizures. (see here).
But I don't know why that would make it any faster.
It's not like you have any good reason to be running this game on some VC emulator (Dolphin) than the original SNES.

I might not care who's channel uploaded the any% WIP, but it
stopped at Revenge of Meta Knight like the room where you fight
2 Bonkers.
I also sometimes stop at some parts, but for some reason when I
play a movie on V1.55 of Snes9x, create a save state, and reload,
it doesn't play the movie. Instead, you can rerecord it. I used that
to change my entire Ninja ability TAS for spring breeze to the wing ability.
EDIT: I got it. I unchecked Read-Only.
