Did I ever say Coca Cola kid shouldn’t be unstarred? Edit: I should mention that I partly suggested Lord of the Sword for stars was because it was a good replacement for Coca Cola kid.

There's nothing "super entertaining" about Cola Kid, either.
I don't think starred runs should by necessity be "super entertaining" or "super impressive". They should be representative of what TASing is about. Of course being "super" helps with that a lot, but I wouldn't say it's an absolute necessary requirement.
I'm not sure why we insist on having exactly one SMS game starred, but if there must be one, Golden Axe Warrior strikes me as the better pick.
I think the idea is diversity. Diversity in the types of runs, in the types of games, and even on the types of consoles. We wouldn't want 20 Super Mario and 20 Zelda runs in the starred list (no matter how awesome all of them might be).

Yes. One of the arguments against Cola Kid is that it doesn't add to diversity of star tier, as it's basically another Sonic game.

Golden Axe Warrior is basically a Zelda 1 clone so that argument works against it as well.

Except we have way more Sonic clones in star tier than Zelda clones. I suppose the best solution would simply be to un-star Cola Kid. As EZGames mentions, the aim was for Lord Of The Sword to be a replacement for Cola Kid in star tier, not to have both.

Golden Axe Warrior is a 'Zelda clone,' but a Zelda clone isn't equivalent to a Sonic clone. The Sonic games and Coca-Cola Kid are practically all a single continuous game, just with new levels for each game. Whereas if a game is a 'Zelda clone,' it means that it's part of the action-adventure genre, like Crystalis, Alundra, Spiritual Warfare, etc. in addition to Golden Axe Warrior. Although they share they idea of walking around with a sword, they all have different routes, items, skills, enemies, and glitches that make each action-adventure game a unique experience. Thus, Golden Axe Warrior promotes diversity of ideas within the action-adventure genre, whereas Sonic/Coca-Cola Kid repeats the same platforming ideas.

Except Golden Axe Warrior is much more literally a Zelda 1 clone than the other examples you listed. It even copies a few screen layouts from Zelda 1's dungeons. It's literally just "Zelda 1 but without the things that make Zelda 1 particularly interesting as a TAS". At least Coca Cola Kid has a cute movement method that differentiates it from Sonic games.

It's a nice movie with complex gameplay, good execution, and high ratings, but it's also rather long and has those repeating sounds... hard to sit through the entire thing if you're just a layperson. I'd wait for any%.

I agree with this once it’s published. I wouldn’t mind if it replaced the current starred Celeste tas as well.

How does it compare with [2205] DS Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow "all souls" by Kriole in 35:08.59?

DoS all souls is a great example of an action-heavy completionist run that uses a ton of luck manipulation and routing to collect all the souls the game has to offer. PoR all bosses differs in that it isn't really completionist (it goes through most of the game, but defeating all bosses is a more arbitrary goal) but features a lot faster paced action, occasional out-of-bounds/zipping tricks, a crazy route going all over the place, and rapid demolishing of every major enemy or boss. For me, PoR all bosses is one of my favorite movies on the whole site, although DoS all souls is probably a bit easier to follow for most users and the goal itself is more noteworthy. EDIT: [3216] GBA Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow "all souls" by Fz-Last, klmz, Pike in 17:06.41 is already starred- it has the same goal/general idea as DoS, but is a GBA game instead of DS.

Both movies are really good, but I feel that PoR differs in how fast pace it is. It gets the fastest form of movement really early on in the movie as compared to DoS or AoS. Also what is shown in DoS is pretty comparable to AoS like moth mentioned, but I think AoS is more entertaining.

I feel DoS has a really slow start (to the point where I never actually finished watching it). I do really like PoR All Bosses but my one question is whether or not we need a DS Castlevania in Stars in addition to the ones we already have for other platforms. If you're counting classic castlevanias in addition to "Igavania's" as they're called, we currently have 4. If you're counting only Igavania's, we have 2, but that is 2 out of 3 systems they were even released for. Over representation of franchises is a potential issue with the star list and I'm not sure this pick helps with that.

Right now there are 4 starred Castlevanias: 2 old-school and 2 modern, and the latter 2 do cover "all souls" and "all bosses" categories. If the suggested run is notably different from both, it can be starred.

Does [2966] GB Trip World by MUGG in 05:10.91 really deserve a place in Stars? It does have one cool glitch and a good rating, but in the end, it's a pretty unremarkable run, and it's not a very popular movie in general. And it's not like it balances that out with a ton of content or anything, seeing as it's the 3rd shortest movie in the tier and a GB game. Seems like a regular Moon to me, but that might just be my subjectivity at play, although Arc also suggested bumping it down in 2018.

If we are going to re-evaluate some of the starred GB movies, I might as well suggest this one for stars. [3006] GB Pac-In-Time by slamo in 27:31.45

I disagree with it being pretty unremarkable, there's a lot of variety and techniques beyond what you mentioned. The main unfortunate thing to me about the movie is the amount of pause spam causing a ringing sound.

Trip World is maybe not as brilliant as this fine masterpiece, but still as good as it was in 2015 when we starred it. Amazing graphics, great music, fast pace, several characters, varied gameplay, glitches... cool stuff. Pac-In-Time is not bad, but way too long and not particularly enjoyable for my own taste. What do others think?

I am very biased in enjoying the movie, as B-K is my favorite game, and the first game I ever saw a speedrun of. But I definitely think it deserves Star tier. (I mentioned that in a chat and EZGames told me to post here...) To me Star tier is about movies that someone that's never watched a TAS before would really like, and that tends to mean extremely high-effort runs of popular games. I do think Banjo qualifies as both. Banjo's recent inclusion in Smash has shown that he still has a LOT of love. As for Kazooie's "repeating sounds", I could spend hours listening to them in the background... And with recent finds (810 note door skip, and Click Clock Wood early), an any% run's main limiting collectible would be... 45 Mumbo Tokens to transform into Pumpkin and Bee, I believe. It would not be more entertaining.

It's a nice movie, but I'd like to know how many people find it outstanding. I can recognize quality of the game itself, execution of the movie, damage boosts and playarounds, but what about others?
