OK, so it was just easier to strength elesewhere. Would getting the coin in the prison chapter and RNG manipulating to give a +3 might bonus when forging the supersword have been worth the speed loss in getting it and extra menus? It seems like it would have let Edward kill the boss next chapter without Nolan and that tiger at the end in one round at least.
It seems that the coin type is loaded as an object with the rest of the level, and there is no way to manipulate it during gameplay. The only way I have to check what card a coin gives is to collect it and finish the level. Maybe coins could be manipulated if I enabled saves at the beginning. Here is Part 2 of 4: Link to video

Wow, you are making fast progress.
The RNG cycles whenever the attack cursor for a ranged attack unit highlights an enemy ~on a diagonal~. RNG can be incremented by going back and forth between the enemy select and weapon select screens (slow). If there are two or more enemies in attack range, jumping between a diagonal enemy and another enemy will cycle RNG (fast). The RNG value is the same for each of these cycles regardless of which unit is used or which diagonal enemy is highlighted.
This is amazing information, might even affect RTA runs. Thanks for discovering this. I'll make a separate post with my constructive feedback for the updated WIP.

deleted ---------- Vykan12: Thanks for your strategies. Where I deviated I probably should have followed them more closely. ---------- I'm ready to start submission. I have a couple options for ending the movie, which should I submit? 1. Final input is start of Ike's attack on Ashera. This plays pre/post battle video and continues until a dialog screen with user scrolling is reached. This is shown in the above video. 2. After initiating Ike's last attack, continue skipping cutscenes and scrolling through dialog text until much later the "Fin" screen is reached and can be faded with final input. Unfortunately after this Dolphin hangs up on a black screen and doesn't continue to battle records.

Submit as is. Why not?
TASing is like making a film: only the best takes are shown in the final movie.

I'm preparing Hard Mode TAS. Verification movie is in progress; I'm almost at the end of Part 3. I watch RNG addresses 804CB550-804CB555. They cycle when select enemy on diagonal on map, and when choosing a merchant in base menu. What is the RNG formula? Is there any other info that can help? Thanks! Edit: lapogne36's FE9 TAS description has some RNG info, https://tasvideos.org/9568S Edit2: Verification complete. My goal for the initial RNG value is to get Micaiah to critical, and for Edward to critical the enemy blocking his path during the enemy turn. I am currently hex editing the initial clock, brute force incrementing one second at a time and retesting. Going from hex 0000 to 0200 (512 attempts) I found six instances where Micaiah (stated 3% chance) gets a critical. Of those, none yet also have Edward getting a critical (Stated 9% chance x 2). Edit3: Continued brute force time adjust to 02A0 (672). Reviewed each of 8 instances where Micaiah got critical: There were two forks, one where Edward gets hit 2 times (all with same RNG), and one where Edward dodged both times (All with same RNG, different than when he's hit). Apparently Edward also getting a critical is not possible with any available starting seed, **assuming** I tested them all. Cycling the RNG before saving the verification movie had no impact. It looks like I'll just have to go with the best of selection currently, which is Eddie getting hit twice for quicker Wrath activation. (Yes, I plan on using him extensively again).

Completed Chapter 1-P (4 Turns, 1:34 IGT). See description in YouTube. I've tried to incorporate all constructive criticism from my Normal Mode New Game attempt. In this map I beat the turn count of Ruadath's Low Turn Count (LTC) Battle Saved run. No FE9 transfers, as Speedrun.com submissions use hex edited transfers impossible to replicate though gameplay. Warning: Some flashing during RNG manipulation. Link to video
