I have some questions related to some of these emulators, and I wanted to compile them into a single topic. Dolphin: Why is TASing so confusing on Dolphin? BizHawk: Genesis stutters sometimes. Why?? PCSX2: HOW do I TAS in PCSX2?

I have a better question. If Genesis is stuttering for you why are Icarus'ing yourself by wanting to use Dolphin and PCSX2? Anyways Answers: Dolphin: Since it's more demanding it's features are a bit more bare-bones to something like BizHawk. Genplus-gx: Because your system isn't good enough? We don't know your system so we obviously aren't mind readers. PCSX2-rr: Well first you [train goes by] and that's all you need to know about how to TAS on PCSX2-rr, the emulator with so many issues.

Number One: Genesis works perfectly for me on Kega. Number Two: OK, I understand about more bare-bones, but I bet in 10 years, we'll have simple TASing in Dolphin Number Three: OK

The speed of most emulators depends on how they was coded. Ones that aim to be more accurate in emulation tend to run slower than ones that don't aim for accuracy.

To repeat myself from another thread yesterday to here. No 2 emulators are the same. You can't compare Kega to Hawk. Also, Kega's not even BizHawk's upsteram. I wrote the upstream of what that is. It's Genplus-gx.

TBH, I actually had a feeling it's because of accuracy.

So, quick question: I'm making a Sonic 2 TAS, and it's not intended to be the fastest. Where should I submit it? Vault? User Files/WIPs?

What is the shortest TAS of any Game Boy game without major glitches? (At least out of the ones that have been accepted.)

Another couple quick questions Nintendo DS: How do you TAS this? MAME: Again, How do you TAS this? Would it be possible to THEORETICALLY take libretro cores, make them their own standalone emulators, and give them TASing capabilities?

First One: DeSmuME exists. What is wrong with you? Second One: FBA-rr and MAME-rr exists. What is wrong with you? Side Note: You can find this information on the Emulation TAB when you're at the homepage of TASVideos. Third One: You can use the dll in BizHawk and TAS the core you want. THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED. Fourth One: You upload it to user files. Fifth One: Tetris.

Number One: I meant how easy is it to TAS with DeSmuME and Arcade emulators. (I shoulda been clearer, that's my fault.) Number Two: For the cores thing I meant: Taking the .dll, turning it into it's own .exe that can run without a frontend, and giving it TASing features.

MAME-RR: It exists. That's all you're getting from me. FBA-RR: It also exists and likes to crash sometimes, compatibility mode to win 7 helps and the method is that of classic TASing. DeSmuME: Same as above, only substitute crashing for free desyncs and you have to deal with a touch screen. Number Two: Ha, no. It's a process and a half to actually create a core. Also RetroArch uses older builds and is never up to date on some of their cores.

I will just look it up for MAME. As for FBA/DeSmuME, I assume by "Classic" you mean like BizHawk? And for Cores: OK, that I get.

OK, so, for everyone that uses Gens for Genesis TASing: How do you make your Genesis TASes? I personally put the game in slow mode (about 25-33%) before I start recording.

You use your things called the save states, and the load states, and the frame advances.

Number One: I put my questions in the Gens thread cause, ya know... IT'S RELATED TO GENS. Number Two: When I tried loading a state while recording, it screwed up the recording.

Number One: I didn't move it. But all your questions that you created new topics are simple general questions so don't make a dummy spit about it. Number Two: Do you have Read-Only mode enabled in some way? Alternatively here's a good point. Switch to Hawk if you don't want to deal with these avoidable "headaches".

So, I've decided I'm gonna TAS a game, but I wanna start with a relatively unoptimized one, or one that has yet to be TASed. Does anyone have a recommendation? Ideally one that can be done on BizHawk.

You could TAS Cabbage Patch Kids for the Atari 2600. The game doesn't have a published TAS, and there has only been 1 submission made of the game to the site, which wasn't particularly optimized. To see the movie that was posted (and the issues it had), look here: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21064 Also, this game is only 2 and a half minutes long, and can be TASed on BizHawk.
