Submission Text Full Submission Page
Used Famtasia ver5.1
  • Used all kind of settings
  • I play through all the levels.
  • I take a few hits and even die at one stage (when I died I in fact
defeated the boss, so during the death no extra time was wasted I just did that because it looked so funny)
  • My aim is to complete the game fast and well, and also to chock
the people who watch this.
The game is based on the famous robot police "robocop" which was released in the 80's. In other words you are a police that is making the world peaceful.
Sorry man because I have not read all the submisson rules-and not have been a part of the discussion. I thought that I have done everything that I was supposed to. But it appears that I haven't. I will no take a break from this site and my submissions ( Which is probably a relief for y'all on this site) but i will be back then and hopefully i will do you all proud!!
Last speach is:" I'll be back"!!

I thought someone already submitted a movie of this game, but apparently I'm mistaken. However, the game has been discussed, in this topic: http://tasvideos.org/forum/t/1364 Apparently, some people thought this game is very boring, and some remembered it as a hard one. I'm prejudiced against this movie, but I'll watch it if I remember to. Until then, not voting. Ps: Kameza, you've recently submitted a lot of movies, most of which have been rejected. I'd like you to concentrate on quality instead of quantity! Or are you desperate to get your name on the list of players?

I watched it... and by the third (or fourth?) boss, I was bored enough to stop watching. Voting no. Also, I think in the "training mode" you could have been faster. Even if it has no effect in the result, it would have been more impressive to have no delays between aiming and shooting. In any case, I don't want to see more submissions for this game. The game just simply lacks maneuvaribility (eh, how's that word spelled?) to allow interesting actions. The hero is way too slow and unagile. (But I'm not rejecting this submission yet - I want to offer a chance. What do others think?)

By the way, what does "uses all kind of settings" mean? In some previous submission, you wrote "uses settings: up" or "uses settings: up and select". Perhaps you've misunderstood what "which emulator settings you use" means. Please read below:

Hmm.. Right away i dont think it should be accepted.. I think all NES games should now be TAS'ed on FCEU. Unless this game has some troubles running on that emu. I might watch later.

Keep in mind that even Rockman 2 was played using Famtasia. :) (I still don't think it's as bad emulator as Phil seems to express.)

It's certainly inferior to FCEU though, in my opinion.

Diman... dont keep making rejected movies.. Make a Thread for this one in NES ganes and work on it step by step.. posting up your WIP.(Perferably on FCEU :) ) That way the viewers can watch your every step as well.. then it will be easier for you to get a better sense of what the viewers would want to see. but.. i guess i will download Famtasia and watch this run, and give pointers.

I keep Famtasia so that I can watch movies that were submitted before blip's FCEU came along. I recognize that the Rockman 2 run, and some of the other classics, use Famtasia. I agree that Famtasia isn't "loathesome", but it's clearly inferior to FCEU. I find that FCEU is easier to use, and produces a better picture. The emulation is more accurate. I would just prefer if FCEU could be used for submissions in the future.

Bisqwit said that VirtuaNES isn't good but in fact, it is clearly superior than Famtasia. If VirtuaNES can't be used here, why this emulator which emulates games so inaccurately?

Because Famtasia doesn't have the problems that VirtuaNES has as explained in the Rules.

Yes, but it should be explained in the Rules that you should choose the emulator that emulates the game the best. Which in all cases Famtasia failed. Except simple games like SMB1 :P

Okay, I've been watching for at least 5 minutes and I can't watch any more. This is unbelievably boring. You just walk in a straight line through every level, and take a ton of damage along the way. On the rare occasions when he uses his gun, there appear to be missed shots, as bullets can be seen disappearing behind the enemies (the ones who are kicking Robocop's ass). Robocop must be the worst cop ever. I've played Robocop 3 and I remember having the ability to, um, jump. This game just blows. I vote No.

To wrap this off-topic discussion up, I'll state the situation regarding emulator usage: The preferred emulator for NES movies is currently FCE Ultra. Famtasia submissions are allowed, but deprecated for various reasons (emulation quality, difficulty of making AVI). This is mentioned in the Rules as well as on the EmulatorHomepages page.

Well, probably Robocop 3 should be better than this game. And next time, try using FCEU with its advance frame.

Didn't think of this in time to use Edit. Because Robocop just walks in a straight line, even through enemies and bullets and flame throwers, it doesn't look like it would be much slower if it wasn't tool assisted. Robocop really gets owned in some of the fights. That's just not how a speedrun goes. You do "Takes no damage", or "Takes damage to save time," which usually still means that you take damage in just a few places to save time. To avoid having to stop and fight, Robocop takes damage from almost everyone (and doesn't make it look cool by doing it at 100 km/h like GBA Castlevania: Circle of the Moon). If I wanted to watch someone get his butt kicked, I could play the game myself. (The part about "Robocop must be the worst cop ever" reminded me of the Dick Tracy game. That might be fun to make a run at)

Well I think I'm making some mistakes cause I take hits (a very few times dough) but maybe often enough to make viewers annoyed. Anyhow, I think this movie is quite good, because I don't waste so much time, and I also use some type of glitch that makes the player immortal a fwe seconds if you press "select" when i does a guard. I use that glitch cause you save so much time on that.

Glitch or no glitch.. no TAS on this game should be published.

Dick Tracy Beta-Demo-Playaround NES. the game is horrible. unless theres some major glitch like Gigafrost's Zelda 2, its even more boring to watch because of the time. oh, and i echo hopper's sentiments on this game as well. i just didnt vote because i never played the game and don't really understand it as well... granted, while its only 12 minutes, i got bored very quickly... it may just be the game though.

Ok,ok,ok...I agree that this movie is really slow but hey-is that my fault? The game is this slow and like I explained before,-that's why I is use this glitch, to manipulate and to make the viewers confused.... I have plenty of timeattacks from this site, and as I can see all of the players has their own way of movements and game-tactics. And maybe some are good are hyperfast and some movies are quite slow. And maybe this is my way to play out this terrible game?? PS: Is their someone out there who LIKED it???

Wtf???????? It's Diman's NES Robocop in 12:03 Not KameZa's NES Robocop in 12:03 Why you're cheating people? Plz read http://tasvideos.org/SubmissionInstructions.html It's written "Please don't write a false name in the field. If the administration of this site somehow gets to know that the name is false, your submission will be rejected." So this movie is automatically rejected because of that.
