Actually, enabling or disabling this changes nothing on the dumped .avi's resolution. So, guys... after several tests, I figured out how to dump the videos correctly with Gens. You just need to leave the option "Proper Aspect Ratio in low-res mode" disabled. Doing so will make the emulator dump videos as 320x244 when the game is playing on this mode, as well as dumping as 256x244 when the game is playing like this. The movie overall will still be 320x244, but the segments that are on 256x244 will have black borders added to the sides as compensation. Those black borders can easily be cropped with virtualdub, though. You just need to go "video > filters > add > null transform > cropping" and then put the value 32 on both X1 and X2 offsets.

My apologies, remembered the wrong thing. I knew there was an option for it somewhere...

Technically, the "Proper Aspect Ratio in low-res mode" is there for a reason — old CRT TVs would stretch the image to fill the width. Without the stretching, the image looks distorted, as games were designed with this stretching in mind. I imagine that disabling the option is good for preserving the pixels of the original data, however.

I have another question. What are those 3 options for: Is there any major difference if I leave them enabled or disabled? I also wanna know if they are TAS safe.

The fact that you are seeing all 3 of them mean you should update your emulator. You want to leave PSG high quality OFF, the others on. They make no difference in synch, but PSG hih quality sounds nothing like real hardware.

Is it possible to render a separate window with a GD canvas from a Lua script?

So what about completely losing Gens-rr source code? Will the project migrate anywhere? http://code.google.com/p/gens-rerecording/issues/detail?id=116

I did the export to GitHub process on this and many of the other -rr repositories on googlecode. It has been about 2 weeks and the import processes still say 0% done. So yeah.
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

I found a problem about loading savestates. Sometimes movie is finished. Then if I load savestates, I can't load movie's. And I have to restart to play movie then load it. It's same as FCEU. But FCEU has been instead of newer FCEUX. So FCEU doesn't need to fix that. However, gens should been fixed, I think. Also, gens doesn't allow to reset the game. Only has a hard reset. I knew that bizhawk has solved these 2 problems. And it runs genesis games very well. But Bizhawk is much slower than gens. Especially while fast forwarding and searching RAM. (It cannot even run with a full speed while searching RAM.)

Try unckecking "Automatic Close Movie" in General Options.

I have a minor issue when running Gens using wine in Linux. When I install some custom Windows UI theme (Zune for example), the RAM watch looks like this: Looks like the text is present, but for some reason it is white.

Ask Marzo personally, otherwise Gens is dead.

Made it split on resolution changes (uncheck Graphics -> Proper Aspect Ratio in low-resolution mode) and fixed the dropped frame on new segment start. https://files.tasvideos.org/2095/archives/Gens-SplitAVI.7z

I know this emulator is inferior to BizHawk but what is the latest version of Gens?

Gens11a and Gens11b are about the same and I'm certain they sync with eachother. However if you going to do AVI dumping I would suggest you use the AVI fix build that feos provided above your comment.

Does that also apply to the SVN version as well?

I was wondering if it is the same as the other version of Gens? And if it is best to use the Gens Split version?
