About this version

The thing which there is only in this version.

A map as the item, bread crumb glitch.

The thing which there is not in this version.

B-Dash, instant map, button setting, mysterious cave to the last battle.

Luck manipulation

You can evade a battle by showing a menu right before an enemy appears. When a level advances, you can control the increase of the value by a timing to push the A button. Five values are decided at the same time, and the increase of HP and PP are decided in an individual timing.
There is not this glitch on prototype version and GBA version. Individual cannot have many bread crumbs, and cannot too give it, because it records a using bread position to character information. However, the bread crumb which Pippi made is returned to boy after she withdrew in Pippi's house. You can warp to {x:0,y:0} if boy has never used bread. The unused area has a tileset upset. You can restore a right position and tileset by using bread in the broken world. Unfortunately you can't restore right data by using map.

Improvements

In house

The second fight shortens it by using auto battle consecutively. The bat was not necessary, in this run.

Rescue Pippi

I withdraw $30 and buy one bread before going to rescue her. I lengthen time opening a menu for luck manipulation and reduce the number of times. The loss of this point in time is summarized in necessary long luck manipulation later. I supplement two bread with $ 100 of the prize money after having let her use the bread before she leaves. I telephone a daddy before going out of the shop, and move one step return point.I go to her house again and obtain the bread crumb which can go to another world.

Meets the girl

I reload a map tip with bread after walking in several steps west and about 500 steps south. The girl who is there is "Queen Mary". When I touch her, she disappears with an obstacle of the Giegue's cave and I am transferred to this side of the final battle.

Preparations

I defeat a Last Starman 6 to learn Life-Up alpha and PSI Shield alpha, and obtain the PSI stone. I come back to Mt Itoi with a bread crumb after having bought four Life-Up Cream for $1000 that withdrew in a shop.

The Final battle

I manipulate luck and take the initiative and use PSI Shield Alpha. I use guard and Life-Up alpha till I get possible to sing. I manipulate luck and reduce damage, then use Life-Up Cream and sing 11 times and defeat Giegue.

Special Thanks

MON: He devised the model of the method to meet with Giegue directly.
And thank you for reading this submission, enjoy the run!

Flygon: Added YouTube module.
FractalFusion: For some reason I thought it was Giygas singing. That would have been awesome. Oh well...
Accepting as an improvement to the published run.
Flygon: Processing the SD encode, since Alexra is proving unable to process the encode SD encode.

It was mostly a wasteland of grey and marathon walk. Yes vote for improving another one of TASVideos's boring yet amusing marathons! Happily encoding in HD.

For having never played Earthbound Zero, I found the TAS very boring to watch. I found nothing that caught my attention. The walkathon, while possibly being the best way to complete the game, made me wait for a few minutes to see what would happen next. Due to the game having Japanese text, I couldn't figure out what was going on until I read the author's comments. I thought that the final boss would have some interesting action in it, but due to the requirements in beating the boss, the battle turned out repetitive and boring. The "bread crumbs" glitch skips the entire game, which makes me not learn about the Mother world at all. If I would have played this game beforehand, it might have been more interesting to watch. I think that another Mother TAS run should be made alongside the glitched run that doesn't invoke the "bread crumbs" glitch. P.S. The tune to defeat the boss is catchy by the way. I remember hearing that tune somewhere else when I was younger.

I don't have time to encode this week-end, so anyone else can do the SD encode.

With the Japanese language text, the lack of running, and the requirement of being forced to Sing 11 times at the final boss, this certainly isn't the most entertaining run around. However, it's still a great example of breaking an RPG to pieces with glitches. I was fairly amused by the disappearing "Queen Mary" girl in the middle of gray glitchy land, and the game's music is awesome. Yes vote for a noticeable improvement on the old run.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Due to Mister Epic's forfait I was invited by Flygon himself to encode this, using his crf=0 parameters. http://www.archive.org/details/earthboundzeroj-glitched-tasv2-pirohiko The filename is consistent with the previous one. Enjoy.

Undie... uh, I highly recommend you pop into the IRC channel. There is mutliple issues with the encode that really should be addressed. The primary ones being the display configuration in FCEUX itself and subtitling. For contrast, Noob Irdoh's encode displays far better accordance with the guidelines. To boot, the audio and video quality is also higher. Also, please link to the image, people don't appreciate massive images being posted inside threads, it's common courtesy to link to such an image instead.

While I always found myself preferring the non-glitched run, this is a nice improvement to the published run. Yes vote.

Has anyone figured out whether it syncs with the English translation?

This TAS uses a glitch that was fixed in the English translation. I think it's safe to say that it won't sync with said translation.

Goog improvement!! I'm just curious: why isn't it possible to sing after some minutes fighting against the last boss?

Apparently RPG characters can't escape being named A even in the Japanese version. though it is in hiragana instead of the roman alphabet so that is different

This movie was flagged as console verified, but there doesn't seem to be a video attached, so I'm removing the flag. If a video exists or a new one is made, please post it in this thread and the flag will be re-added.
