Wow, nice find! It’s amazing how you guys still find improvements in this game.

Yep. That's not even the biggest one. There's quite a few improvements that's been found over time. Here's some examples that I can think of off the top of my head. SY1- I have no idea when this one was found, but you can do a clip into the half pipes which saves a couple seconds. SB1- One of the biggest improvements. I managed to get 0:24 using slope glitch. My initial attempt wasn't fully optimized so I suspect at least a 23 is possible. SB3- I found out that Sonic can do a stair clip into the slope. You can get a 0:05 with this. Oh yeah, here's a nearly finished (and heavily improved) S1K run I have just lying around. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/110937678/S1K%20any%20kaan55.gmv

FAST HAS HELL Also, adds some “loses the game to save time” to the more-familiar “takes damage to save time” and “uses death to save time” In the final boss battle, try to glitch through the Eggman’s pistons and climb onto the wall inside. I was able to do it when me&marzojr were making the currently published run , but we didn’t get anything useful from it. Who knows, maybe you will do. :)

Yeah that game over is probably my favorite part of this run. I’m also happy I was able to get in that 4th death to underflow my lives.

That is the exact reason this tas isn’t completed yet. There’s potential for Knuckles to get in double hits but nothing I tried so far worked. I might be able to do something with that clip though. Do you have a gmv of said clip?

I’ve looked for it and couldn’t find anything but discussing that with marzojr, my apologies.

Wish there was an easy way to search through the thread, because I was wondering if anyone had the idea of doing a Ring Attack TAS of Sonic 1. I'm curious to know if we have enough glitches on hand to break stages enough to get all the rings. Special Stages could be included in this as well, so it could also double as a 100% TAS.

Here's something I made for fun. Maybe I'll make a full run out of it in the future. Link to video
It wasn't finished, but there were several other videos kaan posted if you want to check the youtube account. Luckily the posts regarding it are just from a couple of pages back (starting page 22 for me.) so if you want to check them out too, shouldn't take too long to find. As seen in the video kaan had similar ideas about the special stages. And as for the glitches curiosity, you'll have to wait till someone more informed gets here; I know theres a page here on the game on somestuff but I've no idea how up to date it is. http://tasvideos.org/GameResources/Genesis/SonicTheHedgehog.html

Oh shoot, I guess it's been a while since you guys got an update on the ring attack huh. Well, you'll be happy to know that I'm about halfway through Scrap Brain 3. Unfortunately it's hard to say when I'll be done because apparently our blue boy needs to breathe (in other words I'm having trouble with bubble rng). Given how close I am to the end I won't make the gmv public. I would recommend watching the whole thing when it does come out. I've improved a lot of levels from their first iteration. As a result I have no idea which updated levels you may or may not have seen. To answer your question about getting all rings. Yes it is possible.

Great to hear kaan. And it isn't ever really the true Sonic experience without hearing THAT drowning tune anyway. Best of luck finishing up! Looking forward to seeing the end product!

Sounds good. I actually didn't know that anyone was working on a ring attack for this game (since I almost never follow this thread). I thought at first it would be cool to do a TAS of this, but the amount of effort required is huge (not to mention the special stages are terrible and give me a headache even thinking about them, even though they might not be as hard to route as the main stages).
