Jesus christ lord I've been trying to find a skip like this for ages. How?

Awesome. You can do 1 better, you can fall off the ledge, go left, and then trigger the pole while facing right instead. You can then aim your trajectory left to the next section instead, up here: Plus there's an error in the current run (Edit: As was clearly stated on previous page anyway). For some reason it collects the flute at 2:31, which is optional and bad in a speedrun because it's what causes the rope at 2:56 to take the detour for apples/health. Not a concern now though, since we don't go anywhere near it. Good discovery.

It's a combination of two known game quirks. 1) Falling off a ledge onto a pole or bouncy surface allows you to add your jump to the bounce (used in the published run in level 1) 2) Swinging your sword extends your hitbox. By doing this far away from the pole, the game adjusts your speed so you get flinged away really far. Also, nice find Flip! I didn't realize you could delay holding the jump button a few frames, but hey now I know.

Awesome skip!! By the way in submission message ElectroSpecter also mention that he was skip the wall In The Cave of Wonders once, but not able to replicate.

In The Cave of Wonders, there's a wall blocking you from the monkey boss (the one right by the two health hearts), and to get rid of it, you have to climb a rope and hit a statue. I've reached the area where the wall should be before, and it hasn't been there, even though I hadn't hit the statue yet. I can't figure out how this happened, and I can't seem to recreate it, but if I could it would save a few seconds.
Would be great if in new TAS this mystery will be finally solved.

Hi guys, Congratulations arandomgameTASer for your new TAS, it is amazing ! I just want to share some improvements for your TAS. Recently, a french runner found a new glitch in the Sultan's Dungeon to clip a wall. You could save 5s, I guess, and maybe you could do it in others parts of the run. The link => https://www.twitch.tv/chonkaltv/v/100386920 An other minor improvement is about a statue in Cave of Wonders. In fact, you don't need to destroy it to reach the boss. It's not a very good improvement, but you can save some frames.

Interesting. I know that you can jump and nudge yourself into a few corners, but even if you manage to fall through it's not much use as level progression generally happens upwards. I was certainly wondering if anything like that could occur in Sultan's dungeon. I myself have found other improvements in Genie's level, and have already improved level 01 by a tiny bit too.

Upon further investigation, that's very easy to reproduce. Just run against the wall, and jump for a single frame to go straight through it. Nothing to do with invincibility frames or needing the bat to displace you. No applications anywhere it seems, as this is the only corner with a height gap of 24, and even then it just makes you fall through into the previous zone. Thus this cannot be used as a skip.

Hi. So, some members of the Ultime Décathlon community have done a race on Aladdin yesterday and two of them skipped the desert level. We tried to look on the internet but found no mention of this skip so we guessed it was something new and unknown and after quite some time we (mainly Psychowse) have managed to find a way to do it consistently. I doubt it has any use for the TAS of this game but I figured I could mention it here, just in case it can lead to other discoveries. The steps required for this skip: 1) You need to change the default binds to C/A/B instead of B/A/C 2) Then you need to wait for the game to show the demo of Abu's minigame with the pots falling from the sky. The demo actually plays prerecorded inputs and since you've changed the binds, Abu will jump instead of slashing his sword and that will end this level, start the following cutscene and then loads the desert level. 3) Once it's done, you quit the demo, start your run and play the game. At the end of level 1, the game will load the level 3, skipping the level 2 entirely. You can watch it explained and shown here (in french). I hope this can be helpful to breaking the game even more. :)

A note about this that might make it viable even with TAS timing: the minigame demo is the third to play, but you can skip the first two just by pressing start as they start.
I problably made mistakes, sorry for my bad English, I'm French :v

The "Desert Skip" can be used to skip multiple levels, and I believe which attract mode cutscene it plays first is essentially RNG (should be easy to manipulate). I believe I've gotten Abu's cutscene first while messing around with it with regular controller inputs. If you time based on last input timing, the TAS can be a couple seconds long in this way: https://youtu.be/35VFGRCYkjM I timed the above method RTA and got 1 hour 48 min so obviously the "speed" of that trick is based purely on the timing system, not on any real time save. However, assuming you can get Abu first by controlling when you do your input, I believe you can save a couple seconds by skipping 4 levels (Desert, Agrabah Rooftops, Sultan's Dungeon, and Cave of Wonders) and playing Flip's inputs for Agrabah Streets and from Escape -> end There's also the possibility of using the skip selectively with soft resets, perhaps to skip Jafar's palace, although I'm skeptical.

Very nice, let's see what everybody's opinion is. It takes ~378131, that's 1h45m + to get to the credits, that's mega boring.

Yeah, it's a bit of a wait. I asked the Really Longathon guys about it and they might be interested in running it as a Picture-in-Picture thing while someone is running something else. We'll see when their next marathon goes

There is supposedly a Sonic style level wrap you can do in stage 2 of this game. Unfortunately the runner who found it wasn’t recording it at the time but if a way is figured out, it might save a significant amount of time. This is the only evidence we have of it so far: https://twitter.com/svpereight/status/1300914949900963847?s=21. They are going to look into recreating it on video.

It looks like that was on the PC port of the game, whatever that means. Maybe it's replicable on the Genesis but I recall someone mentioning being able to glitch through a wall in the Cave of Wonders but it turned out not to be possible (as far as we know) in the Genesis version
