I saw people have been submitting Action 52 games one by one, so I thought I'd submit my Lollipop movie from a while ago. I did Non Human back then as well, but
someone beat me to that earlier this month. I also have solid WIPs on Meong and Micro Mike.
With fast movement, a kinda fun weapon, and actual level exit tiles, this platformer is almost competent!
Game objectives
- Emulator used: FCEUX 2.3.0
- Beat one loop of Lollipop(s)
Lollipop(s) shares the same awkward controls where you can't move and jump at the same time. To adapt to the crap factor, you should press B for 1 frame.
Lollipop Guy takes fall damage (in midair), but you can prevent this by swinging your mighty bludgeon to stall like Super Mario 64. Actual tech!?
Level 1
At frame 2922, the one actual trick of the run starts, so you better listen up. First, I clip the edge of the gumball to avoid an air stall, which saves 14 frames. Then after I hit the ground and jump, I stop briefly to bonk my head on the ceiling of that same gumball so I don't get stuck up in that gap, which saves another 18 frames. 32 frames total.
Level 2
I held right and jumped over some indescribable bad guys.
Level 3
In this level, the sound engine shits itself for no reason. Not that you'd know because it already sounds so bad... And that's not just traditional Action 52 bashing; it has these two chiming tones that slowly drift out of sync and make you wonder if it's a glitch. You can hear the music in its
true form if you hold still at the beginning of the level.
Also, for some reason you have to jump off the starting platform. There's some invisible collision that prevents you from moving right. I think maybe you spawn slightly inside the ground.
nymx: Claiming for judging.
nymx: Setting to delayed. Waiting for
warmCabin, pending re-work of un-optimized areas.
nymx: Excellent! Thanks for revisiting your work. I knew that you were going to find more on that first Level. Well, I'm satisfied that this is optimized enough for a publication now.
Accepting to "Standard" for publication.
