DrD2k9: Claiming for judging.
DrD2k9: Updating movie file with version truncating empty end inputs.
DrD2k9: Welcome to TASVideos, supermanofky! We strive for presenting runs as close to optimized as we can achieve, when it comes to TASes officially published on our site. We are always interested to see what new members/submitters can bring to our site!
While at an initial glance your first submission looks fine, you unfortunately chose a genre of game that can be difficult-to-optimize due to the number of variable approaches available. Unfortunately, the optimization of your run is lacking, and because of that we have to reject this submission. I've mentioned a few issues in this post from some brief testing over just the first few enemies/areas.
Don't feel too bad. One of my own early TASes was also a beat-em-up style game that wasn't nearly as optimized as it could have been, and I understand how it can be discouraging to hear that the work that you thought was optimized isn't good enough for publication, but please don't let that keep you from trying again!
I'd encourage you to either try to improve this run, or try TASing a different game and getting a feel for what TASing other genres are like. We have many resources on the site itself that can help with movie-making. There's also the TASVideos Discord server, which is a good place to ask questions and post WIP (Work-In-Progress) portions of your TAS as you create it. Also we have Userfiles which is a place you can upload a WIP run and then ask for feedback in the Forum or in Discord before actually submitting a run.
Bottom line: We want to see you succeed. Helping you make better TASes results in better content for the site, and (hopefully) more enjoyment for yourself in TAS creation. So please stick around and feel free to reach out for guidance.

Welcome to TASVideos! The description definitely needs some polishing and filling. Alright, I'm not gonna jump to conclusions yet. How does the combat system work in this game? I'm catching the vibes of Streets of Rage 2. If the fighting works like in there, then I think it would be faster to do unfinished combos (without knocking enemies down), wait for your cool-down to finish and repeat a combo from the beginning. Instead, you do a full combo and wait for enemies to get up, in order to finish them.
TASing is like making a film: only the best takes are shown in the final movie.

Hi supermanofky! I looked over your inputs. Here are some suggestions for you to implement: My Setup: Bizhawk 2.9.1 BSNES V115+ Profile = Tool-Assisted Speedruns ----- Frames: 401 = Start 525 = Start 735 = Start 989 = Start 1050 = Start 1132 = Start 1337 = Start Per User-to-User review, these are only suggestions and do not impact the official judgement from a judge

lol it uses similar sprites to the game i TASed before JUSTICE LEAGUE TASK FORCE, it looks kinda boring to be honest but seems like an important game to have here on the site.
TAS i'm interested: megaman series: mmbn1 all chips, mmx3 any% psx glitched fighting games with speed goals in general

Actually even these can be improved: Frames: 382 = Y - Clears Sunsoft Logo 506 = Y - Clears Blizzard Logo Unfortunately the above improvements don't get to the Start press at frame 735 faster. 735 = Start - Starts game 987 = Y - Clears Cutscene 1045 = Y - Clears Cutscene 1124 = Y - Clears Cutscene 1328 = Y - Clears Level Title This would all result in a 1,243 frame improvement just by the beginning point of Level 1. Unfortunately, this also results in a desync at the 2nd enemy, so these improvements can't simply be fixed for the submitted movie. Here's a movie file with the faster starting inputs. That said, in judging the movie, I did some testing on various attack sequences and movement patterns. Here's some stuff I've found:
  • Flying yields faster horizontal movement and can sometimes allow for getting to a new destination quicker. For example, a brief flight between the first two enemies allows for attacking the 2nd enemy earlier.
  • The very first enemy is possible to kill faster by 2 hits then throwing it into the wall instead of using 4 hits.
  • At the screen scroll (when the arrow is flashing), Flying is faster than walking. In this file I was able to get to the second set of enemies 125 frames faster based on the appearance of the Eyegore enemy.
