Post subject: Is it allowed to vote for the own TAS?

I ask because I am not sure. I have not done it yet by my TAS runs. So does it count, when I vote for some from my own TAS runs? Or is this forbidden at all? And another question does anybody else vote for there own TAS runs, when its allowed?

I'm sure nobody would mind. The votes are only something to take into concideration, and don't fully decide if a movie gets published or not. :)

I don't see any reason to vote for your own movie. I mean, if you submitted it, doesn't that automatically mean you want it to be published?

Incidentally, if you WOULD vote no on your own movie, PLEASE don't post it, okay? =P

Well, it still count as a vote and it's allowed. Since you hopefully watched your own run and have an opinion on whether it should be published, you meet the same requirements for voting on it as anyone. Anyway, the whole idea of voting is that a single vote shouldn't matter, so if your particular vote makes a difference then something's wrong with the whole system regardless of whether you actually voted, which is why it's generally not forbidden. Plus I think the judges/publishers get a list of who voted, not what they voted for but if you're on the list they could safely assume you voted 'yes' and mentally subtract a vote if so.

I vote no and yes and meh on my own movies. When i feel that i need to. Because the movie is meant for people to watch, what difference does it make if i made the movie? i submit even if i think nobody should watch it, but if they think they should, then that's what voting is for.

I am a judge and I don't have access to such a list. Although I'm sure bisqwit does if he feels like writing a query for it. Personally I don't vote for my own movies one way or the other, but that's just the way I see it.

It would feel stupid or egocentric if I voted for my own movie.

I recall me asking Bisqwit once what percentage votes for his/her own run, and if I remember correctly Bisqwit said about 15% does it. Personally, I wouldn't vote for a movie of my own.

I feel the same way, authors shouldnt vote for the reasons mentioned earlier.

I don't see a problem with voting for your own movie because it's totally harmless. It's not like one vote can sway whether the movie is published or not. If there's a 16-15 yes/no split then there's obviously something horribly wrong with the movie and it's not going to be accepted.

I think that if the system allows you (and others) to do so, the most wise move is to vote for yourself. The reason: if everyone votes for him/herself, the result is not different that if nobody voted his/her own work. Why it's best: if someone chooses not to 'follow the etiquette' when people agreed not to vote for oneself, is detrimental for the others. On the second case, not following the etiquette is only detrimental for the performer. Why democracy doesn't work: most people will dismiss self-voting without ever listening to this reasoning. Why this doesn't matter: The votes on this forum are just orientative, and one vote more or less is not significant.
No.

There's a phpBB mod that allows staff to see who voted on each poll, but it does not list what their choices were.

I've voted for myself 100% of the time. Even if the run was not submitted at all, I chose to vote and publish the run myself on an exact duplicate of the nesvideos site. I also posted positive comments for my own movie making it clear exactly how great I am.
lol "omg, i am so good, i cant let this without a yes vote" owns XD

It goes like this, this is how i think: step 1: i decided to try making a TAS of a certain game, for whatever reason. step 2: i finish the TAS, and i think its played perfectly. step 3: i have a completed TAS of a game, so i submit it. step 4: i give my sincere thought of why it's good or not to be published and cast my vote. At this point i vote just as any user would. I watch the movie, i think if it'd be a good adition to the site or if it would just waste resources and drive attention away from vids that deserve to be watched. But thats just what i think. The movie was made with perfection, so if everyone else wants to see it, it wouldn't be fair of me to not submit it would it?

I would never vote for my own movies as it would just spoil the real poll because its clear that every author would vote yes to his own movie even if it sucks. It's not the authors but the watchers job to decide about the movie.

I think that voting for own movie is good as long as it's not about just wanting a movie under own nickname. I wouldn't ever vote "yes" for my movie though.

If you gonna vote "no" for a movie, why submiting it at all then? I wouldn't submit one at all if I knew its bad.
