So, I need a break. All this Myst is insane, so instead I decided to do some Dragon's Lair.
I mean after all-- the old
Sega CD submission is actually viable to be rejudged... on the grounds of the next BizHawk release, cause updated core.
Anyways, The DS version-- huh, what's that?
The Arcade release from 1983 has 74 releases?
slowly fading out of existence
croaked voice into existence
The DS version has two available releases, Arcade and Home.
Arcade is as is to the original release, it has everything you want... Home is "and more".
And because this title is brutal, I put it on hardest for tighter timings.
The game manual refers to the modes in title case, so that's why it's branched as such.
eien86: Unclaiming, since I cannot personally determine "Arcade" mode is not contained fully inside "Home" mode. I'll leave this to somebody more experience with the game
DrD2k9: Initially I was on-board with
Arcade mode standing along side
Home as a separate publication due to the differences in room sequence, thinking that these routes were coded to be different. But after some discussion among staff, it appears that the differences in routing between this run and the
published Home mode run result from 2 main factors:
1) The
Home mode has an additional gameplay scene (The Drawbridge), as well as some extended animations.
2) RNG - The sequence of rooms being randomized in order to provide replay value to casual players.
3-ish) As a note: per Spikestuff, there is another difference between the 2 modes.
In Home you repeat the section you screwed up, in Arcade you move on (and be forced to come back to it later). But this doesn't impact the TAS as rooms aren't done wrong.
So in theory, it could be possible to find an RNG seed that would yield a room sequence for Arcade mode that matched the sequence for Home mode. This means that the entirety of Arcade mode is seen in the already published Home mode. As such, this submission can't be accepted for publication based on current policies; but it's a good run for Playground.
