Why did you not pick the Magic Tab here?

1. Costs time 2. No need against Lavos using the Doom Sickle Strategy

Thanks for the feedback guys Saturn; I didnt realize I could enter the giants claw without talking to toma, thanks for pointing that out. Believe it or not the ONLY reason I put Ayla on my team was to use dino tail, In my test runs she was able to do over 2000 damage with the silverernge equiped. For some reason I think she was one level shy of being able to do that much damage and as a result she was comepletely useless during the fight. Next time I will try the powerscarf to see if that works. In this run I put a speed tab on robo because I had a comepletly different strategy in mind when I started the run, however next time I will put the tab on magus to max out his speed. In regard to Bisqwit's question; The reason for not getting the magic tab is that Magus will be using mostly physical attacks during the lavos fight, I use dark mist 9 times and a single magic tab would not make it that much more powerful (most likley wouldnt save a single turn). Plus it would take about 2 seconds to pick up the tab itself. In the next run I may actually pick up some power tabs to boost the power of the doomsickle, for example there are two easy to access power tabs in the giants claw and an another easy tab at the market where I purchased 88 midtonics.

Silver Earring only ups your max HP by 25% and is irrelevant to the Dino Tail as its pure physical. The Power Scarf ups your strength by 4 which will increase the Dino Tail damage a bit, thats the idea.

the dino tail's strength is determined by ayla's current HP(1) in comparison to her max HP(853?), so the higher her max hp is when she is at 1 hp the more damage the dino tail inflicts. I tested this with and without the silverernge and she did in fact do more damage with the earing equiped. However since it is a physical attack as well, I think you idea about the powerscarf should work too. I will try it next time, thanks for the advice Saturn. :)

Oh... Didn't knew the Tail damage depends on the difference between the max and min HP, so thank you too for this discovery, you're welcome!

It says so in the skill description, just like for frog squash.

Does he actually get Crono back in this movie? Just wondering before I decide to watch it, heh.

I think beating Lavos as early as possible is good enough. Except don't you want an ending where you have to add as little extra input as possible, since some endings make you walk around somewhere?

Yeah but it's minor enough that it's still fastest to beat Lavos first opportunity - usually just talk to some people in town square.

Now that I finished my Mystic Quest run, I want to finally complete my Chrono Trigger movie. I am trying to make an avi file of my current wip movie, so that I can easily refer to it while making my new movie (comparing battle times and such). For some reason Snes9x wont let me make the avi file. Every time I start recording, the recording is abruptly stopped as soon as any battle begins, and a message saying "configuration settings changed" appears in the window. The avi does not record anything beyond that point. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Or is anyone willing to record the movie for me?

I had exactly the same problem. Maybe DeHackEd could help here. I don't know a solution right now.

Sorry, couldn't help you. I wrote my own AVI encoding system. All I could do is make an AVI for you from an SMV. Nitsuja, what changed? 2/4 GB barrier breaking? Something else?

There was some code in DoAVIVideoFrame that did this before:
	if(avi_width != Width ||
		avi_height != Height ||
		...)
	{
		DoAVIClose(1);
		return;
	}
But for some reason, Chrono Trigger increases the video height for a few frames right at the start of every battle, causing the AVI to close. I commented out those two checks and replaced Width/Height with avi_width/avi_height in the rest of the function.

Oh, THAT. I saw that before. It's 2 frames at the start of every battle. Never understood why it does that. It just switches to a higher resolution, does 2 frames, and then switches back to normal. Makes no sense.

So, what's going on with this timeattack?

I am working on it right now and am at Nizbel already. I am a few minutes ahead of my test run and at this rate the final run should be at least 10 minutes faster that the test run. If I don't encounter any unexpected problems this run may be done by the weekend.

Well. I guess I don't need to ask if you're Reviving Crono this time around then. The obvious answer is no. ;3

I thought it was Tilus who was doing this run.
