Notice how that run doesn't use math skill. And its way faster than the one that does.
Could this mean that math skill is suboptimal in tas? Due to how powerful luck manipulation can be?

Looks like this does work in bizhawk. Because I know how to use lua now, I'll be starting a run in this! Not to be submitted, but just for fun.
I will also be playing on this hack: https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/4611/
Which came out recently.

*Bump*
Because the patch fixes the JP scroll glitch, and many others, this will be a glitchless run. Which makes a big difference.
Anyone have any notes for a glitchless no math skill route? I might just use that decade old speed guide on gamefaqs with some adjustments. Like setting the options at the beginning and not buying potions. Because the patch reduces some JP cost, I might also look into getting better abilities. For an entertainment trade off, in those battles where it says: defeat X boss, where defeating that one enemy will end the battle, I will be taking out his minions as well. I'm also thinking about getting cloud too and using him from then. Getting all his abilities and his buster sword.
In the assassins battle right before Zalera, I will also be stealing all the genji equipment and defeating every last one of them.

Looked up FFT TAS on youtube and found this:

Sub 2h50m! Damn. I wonder what that was made on. Bizhawk or psxjin
[EDIT] The cutscenes are sped up by 2x so thats why its so low.
i just finished playing this game and i wanted to watch some speedruns and TASes, and the speedrun.com page says they might get removed by twitch!!! this is scary, also some of these links in the conversations don't work anymore, i hope we don't lose material for future TASing because of this inactivity!
I want all good TAS inside TASvideos, it's my motto.
TAS i'm interested:
Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS?
i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.

There is a lot of Twitch video saved at the Internet Archive (archive.org). I'm sure it's a tiny fraction of all Twitch video ever broadcast, but it's hundreds of thousands of items. Here are two collections for example (not all Twitch stuff is in these collections):
Archive Team has notes on archiving Twitch data (e.g. VODs, clips, chat), with suggestions of some software to use.
The easiest automated way might actually be tubeup.py, which works with Twitch (and other video sites) in addition to YouTube: https://github.com/bibanon/tubeup.
I've been disappointed in the quality of the metadata of tubeup.py items I've seen, but it's better than no archive at all. You can find existing tubeup.py items by searching for scanner:tubeup (currently 2,254,431), or just Twitch items with something like scanner:tubeup twitch (currently 284,589).
The Archive Team IRC channel #burnthetwitch may have people who can give advice on archiving.
after watching parts of the japanese TAS i'm actually curious about what's going on the japanese TAS, how come he's so fast and hitting so hard with magic..

It's been a hot minute since I watched it, but speed can be increased by certain equips (and certain jobs are a bit faster as well), and as for damage, besides magic-raising equips and the black mage job having the highest base magic and magic growth, the TAS is able to manipulate Zodiac signs, which can give another 33-50% boost, which is of course tremendous. Also, magic can crit.
