There are comments in the Youtube encode, but I guess I can continue a little bit here. There's an entire section that this TAS skips, which you only get a glimpse of at 7:48. There are 2 other keys usually needed to collect (green and blue) but, well, the skip skips. There are also collectibles that increase your HP and Fireball ammo, but I needn't collect them here. It might make for an interesting 100%/all upgrades category though.

The RTA time of the TAS came out to 7:53, which is 1:20 faster than the current WR.

Please let me know if any more information is needed for sync, as this is my first time with openMSX.

New OOB spots could be found that reach the end sooner. Going to unintended room ID's leads to corrupted tiles being loaded that could help you get upgrades sooner. That would probably require a glitch to go OOB without the pounce upgrade.
(2026/02/17) This TAS was delayed for so long because of 2 improvements I found after submission: one in the room with the fireball upgrade (~half a second), and another after getting the pounce upgrade (~5.6 seconds). The current tools for stitching together inputs in openMSX is broken, which means if I wanted to include both of those improvements I'd have to reTAS 6 minutes of the run, which I haven't had the motivation to do. I'm going to ask for the movie to be judged as-is because of that.

Samsara: Interesting game, and a very good run of it, especially once the pace picked up after the pounce upgrade. If judging has taught me anything, it's that my sense of humor is still fully broken, as the essentially final act of yeeting yourself horns-first through a wall got a good laugh out of me. I'm gonna miss that being the only clip in the next version.
