I used the "dive bomb cancel" using the wing ability, witch can make you fly faster.
I beat Spring Breeze in almost 4 minutes, making this an obsolete TAS.
And I used the wing ability almost the entire time.
Spring Breeze: King DeDeDe has stolen all the food. Kirby must defeat him and recover the food.
- Emulator used: BizHawk 2.10
- I sped up through the stages
- I tried to kill King Dedede as fast as I can*
<I was finished with Spring Breeze in 3 minutes, 48 seconds, and 65 milliseconds.>
I was fast, but not fast enough.
<I wanted to make a TAS and submit it, the first time I tried to make a TAS of Sonic Advance for the GBA, but Sonic kept on halting while the TAS was running so I downloaded the latest version of BizHawk and tried to speedrun Kirby Super Star Ultra and it took me about 3 tries but I finally got it!>
<Green Greens>
<I tried to finish Green Greens as fast as possible>
<Float Islands>
<I was zipping through Float Islands using the "Wing" ability.>
<I defeated LoLoLo and LaLaLa, and I was Done with Float Islands.>
this is my 3rd TAS ever!!
<Never give up on a TAS and keep on trying!>
I could improve my speed and time to defeat bosses.>

We're always glad to have new members showing an interest in our hobby.
Our site strives to show off some of the best of what Tool Assistance in gaming has to offer; typically (but not always) from a speed optimization standpoint. Even when there is an additional goal besides simply going for speed (i.e. Maximum Score), such runs are generally still expected to meet the stated goal as optimally as possible.
It appears you may have misunderstood the submission process and/or movie rules before submitting your run. While we don't have a current publication of this game and your run is generally good play, it is clearly not optimal when compared to the best human runs of the same goal,
as mentioned in the forum. Our rules require that new submissions must either meet or beat known records (which would include the best RTA run for this case). Since you submtitted a run that does not beat the known human record, I'm going to guess that you didn't realize that your run needed to beat/meet all known records in order to be accepted. We do not operate on a leaderboard system like speedrun.com where the best any one individual can attain is accepted, we only publish the best single run of a category for any given game.
I don't want to discourage you when it comes to TASing, but we aren't able to publish a submission that doesn't beat the best human runs.
The stated completion time in the submission notes is 3 minutes, 48 seconds, and 65 milliseconds. Per the category rules on speedrun.com, runs are timed from selection of "New Game" until the final hit on DeDeDe; in this submission thats from frame 1054 to frame 15147 making the RTA timing of this run 3minues, 54 seconds, and 88 miliseconds. There are actually 24 runs faster than this time on
speedrun.com for this goal. This submission must be rejected for this reason.
There are many in our community who would be wiling help give pointers and suggestions on how to improve your skills. This will allow you to create higher quality and more highly optimized TASes in the future. Please reach out to other members via the
forums or via
Discord for such help.
For starters, I can offer a few points for ways to improve your TASing:
- First, fully read through and understand the movie rules, the movie making guidelines, and submission instructions.
- Use other available tools besides just using savestates/slowdown.
- TAStudio: BizHawk contains this tool which is an input roll feature that allows you to specify which buttons are pressed on which specific frames. This allows for very precise timing of button presses for the most optimal play.
- End your movie on the last input necessary to get to the credits/endgame.
- Which for this submission would be frame 15108, the final attack on DeDeDe (TAS timing ends before he is actually hit by the attack).
- In this case, the proper TAS time would be 04:11.82 instead of the 05:49.53 reported.
- In conjunction with the previous point, don't have any empty frames of input at the end of your movie.
- Due to the way our site parses input files, blank inputs at the end of a run will artficially increase the displayed time of the run.
I hope these suggestions encourage you to continue TASing in the future. You are also welcome to use
userfiles to store your runs that aren't being officially submitted for judgement.
Once again, welcome! We look forward to see what TASes you can produce as your skills improve!
