About the game (and its series):
Disney's That So Raven (2004) is a game developed by Vicarious Visions and published by Disney Interactive for the Game Boy Advance.
The game is based on the fantasy teen sitcom series of the same name that was aired on Disney Channel from 2003 until 2007.
The series is about a teenager named Raven Baxter, who has a psychic ability to see visions of future events.
She often misinterpreting the events she foresees, and intervenes to prevent a vision from coming true or to protect her friends and family. This quote comes from its Wikipedia page
The game itself is a bit decent. The graphics have both photorealistic sprites and 3D animated characters, and some frames that comes from a episode of the series.
It has 4 episodes that you can play. In this movie, I focus on the first episode.
- Emulator used: BizHawk 2.10 (Core: mGBA)
- A new game for the page
- Gets focus on an episode
- Avoids extra objectives
As I've mentioned before, the movie's focus is on the first episode titled Run, Raven, Run.
Back To School
It's a simple stage, where you began to know the controls of the game.
The objective is go to talk to Chelsea to finish the level.
I should also mention that on the third screen I do a wallslide. I talk about it
AV Cart Crash
It's the same as the previous one. Go and interact with an unplayable character, to end the level.
Once again, I do another wallslide, as the first screen is a bit similar to the third screen of the previous level.
Present Danger
You need to collect eight gifts and then talk to Chelsea to finish the level.
While trying to find the gifts is very easy to get lost, as you need to search in every screen you are available to access to.
This is a stage where I present more wallslides and cancel running movement.
Eddie or Not
On this stage, you need to avoid the hall monitors by hiding on some spots or grab a hall pass, to advance with no troubles.
If you pass close to those NPCs without having a pass, you'll be set back to the beginning of the screen.
But if you DO have a pass, you're able to make progress without having to wait for the guys that move like a snail.
If the ladder happens, you'll also lose a frame, as the game stops getting information from your inputs.
I also had the possibility to dodge some hall monitors by not being close to their detector range.
Chicken Chase
This is a very simple level, and it shows that before completing an episode, you'll have like a minigame.
On this level, you'll play in 4 mazes, and each maze you need to find a key to go to a door.
After a fade out of a screen, you can't buffer your inputs.
After the movie
This is irrelevant information about the movie, but after finishing the episode I go back to the title screen, just to put the game's credits, which is where the movie ends.
Movement
Sprint cancelation

Raven's can move in two ways. One is by walking, and the second is by running, which you can be done by holding the A button.
If you execute the ladder action and you turn to the opposite direction, Raven will slide a bit so she can redirect to the direction you want to go.
However, if you release either the dpad or the A button, Raven will stop and you press another direction, you'll sprint with no time to rebalance your speed, making it faster.
Wallslides
This is a technique I've only used for brief moments on the movie.
It can be executed while going upwards of the screen, while being close to a wall, producing a slide on the movement.
Diagonal movement
I tried my best to not make too many diagonal movements, as it decreases Raven's speed while running.
Usage of weapons
As you can see, I don't use the three weapons that the game provides to you, which are the perfume, water bottles, and Raven's bag.
This is to not lose time while trying to dodge most of the enemies.
An example of this can be present on Present Danger, where on the TV shop I waited for the AV Cart to move, so I could get the second gift.
Toms: I've cancelled the submission because of its incomplete status
