This is Pako II, an obscure, trippy Pacman clone released for MS-DOS in 1995. The Shareware v1.0 was used, which contains 25 levels.

Objectives

  • Used Emulator: Bizhawk 2.11 (DOSBox-x core)
  • Aims for fastest time
  • Genre: Action

About the run

This is a TAS of the shareware levels of Pako II. It's one of my childhood games, although not a favourite of mine, since this game is pretty hard due to being so fast-paced and unforgiving.
Enemies in this game slowly approach you, but unlike other Pacman games, they don't actively go for the kill and will instead dance around your character. You only die if you try to occupy the same field that an enemy is also trying to occupy. Also, eating an enemy doesn't give points. It only really comes down to eating the dots as fast as possible and dodging the enemies.
This is not an insanely in-depth, technical project. I simply tried to beat my attempts over and over and eventually went on with the fastest one each time, finishing the run in about a week.
The enemies' movement is easy to manipulate by changing your own movement. Where possible, I tried to keep the attempt which looked most interesting.
Enjoy!

3) TAS Movie
Load the ISO directly into Bizhawk and run the submitted bk2 movie file. There should be no ROM hash mismatch.

Added file hashes to the submission text. Please replace the submitted bk2 with this one which changes the SHA1 hash in the Header: I removed the file Pako 2 (1995).ba1 and created a new ISO. The file isn't part of the original game files and not required for running the game. The movie still syncs as before.
