All right, doing a run that does not get all the S-coins will be fine. As you said, it will be somewhat faster, and I think it's better that you continue on what you have and complete it, than not doing this at all :) I wish you good luck one again! :) A small question though, if you do the movie that way, how many of the rooms in the game will you play? Do you have to go through every room or can you skip some?

I thought about going through the 4-8 to 7-3 but I can't open the door. And I thought about the 5-5 to 11-3 but there is one door I can't open:( So I think my route is going normally to 7-2 and then going through the crystal ball room (I won't take the ball though), and after that normally to the end! So how does it feel to you?

I think that it´s good idea to not to collect the S-coins or the crystall balls. The run will be much faster than if you collect the coins and the crystals.Good luck doing that video Guybrush :) !

Yes, I agree with Leon. I hope you get a new WIP up at least pretty soon, I really want to see the rest of the run! I urge you to continue this run as soon as possible! :)

Okay! I'll take a break and continue later! (I think it's going to be a looong break) But I'd like to do run of some other game but, I don't know which. I first thought about some Rockman but, I came to a decision that I could never beat those records. Could you tell me some fun games to do a TAS??
Really? Rockman? You know, there are four Rockman games for Game Boy that haven't had a finished movie yet.

but.. if you do this, will be only for fun, right? because i really dont think it will be accepted.. since this is not a very known game, imho 2 speedruns (fastest and best ending fastest) is more than a limit

Nothing is going well:( I will just take a break from Mighty Bomb Jack! So I'm not working on that other run either.

For the map, there is a 4-X marked with unknown access. To get in there, all you have to do is jump on the door. Since you don't want to do the best ending run, I am starting to think about doing it myself. I should be able to work on it around Christmastime.

Thanks, added.

Actually, the quickest path has 5 secret coins and 1 crystal ball along the way. You'd only have to collect more mighty coins to pick up the secret coins, and go through the maze for the other crystal ball.

I knew in this game that a lot of parts depend on how many times you pressed A or jumped. For example, the changing of colors and the torture room. It looks like pressing A also controls which enemy the mummies turn into. If you just walk and don't press A, they all turn into the same type. This should make it easier to manipulate the monsters so they aren't a problem. Although it doesn't really matter, the door in 11-5 that takes you back isn't a normal open door. It is a trigger door. The trigger is coming in from the previous map. That's why it plays the animation when you get there. If you die, it won't open. Just an observation. It isn't worth changing the map for. Does anyone know what the GDV score is in the game? It seems odd. Is it just some measure of progress?

It measures how good player you are. For example, if you just barely dodge your enemies that rises the score. It's nothing important.

Would it be cool to try to max that out along the way?

Here is my practice run. Please give me comments. http://lingcog.iit.edu/~scubed/mbomb_1.zip If you see any shorter routes, please tell me. I got 1 mighty coin too many because I didn't realize that I could make it to the princess while still blue. I also tried to reveal as many hidden blocks as possible. In 11-E, I get the P because otherwise a mummy appears in my way on top. In the other areas, I dodge it.

I found something in your WIP to complain about: In the first room it's faster to jump on the smaller pillar and then jump over the taller pillar, First bomb room isn't as fast as it could be, is the third bomb room route faster than mine?

Good to see someone is working on this again. I made a short movie myself some time ago, it only plays the first 6 levels I think, and it's a little faster than Guybrush run, not much though. I don't intend to finish it or anything (mainly because I don't know the route ;) ), but you should compare your run with this one, and make sure that you do all those rooms at least equally fast. Here's the run

Ugh, the keyboard that I am using now does not support Up+Left+A simultaneously. I guess that I will have to change my bindings... Randil: Thanks for your movie. You did 2-E better than I did. I think that I will do it your way. Guybrush: For the pillar, do you mean 1-1? Are you sure? I don't think that I slowed down at all at that part. I will try the 1-E a few different ways to find which way is faster. Ditto for 3-E. I will do some careful timings to find out which way is better. For doing the practice run, I just decided to try it on my own to see what I come up with before copying others. It is quite likely that yours are better. Let the copying begin!

Yes, I ment the 1-1 pillars. It doesn't seem faster but more higher you go, more slower it is, jumps turn much slower when you get higher, so jumping on the lower pillar and then jumping over the higher pillar should be couple frames faster.

I type like this out of habit because wrapping doesn't work the same in different media. This way, my text is always wrapped. Also, text becomes unreadable if you put a long line without whitespaces in it. (It would be nice if there was a CSS attribute for autolinebreak or autohypenate that was supported in browsers. (I think CSS3 has something like that.))

But I think it's also hard on the eyes to make such frequent line jumps.

Hehe, maybe I should show my English-teacher my posts in this forum. Or maybe not, I don't want to look geeky for hanging around in a TAS-forum ;) Plus the fact that I have only mathlessons in school and don't read English anymore... But hey, thanks anyway :)
