Welcome to my new mini-movie competition! The point of this is to practice making time attack movies without having to beat an entire game. These moview will usually be no more then 5 minutes long, and the due date is next satruday by midnight (Eastern Standard Time). Please post all submissions here. You can post a submission, and then post a better one later. Fastest submission wins the title of mini-time attack champion of the week. This week's competition: ROM: The Guardian Legend (US) goal: Highest number of points before the start of the first boss as you can.

I wanted to make the first one a game everyone would know. Plus, I chose world 3-2 so that there would be new terrotory to improve. But I suppose you are right. So I am think I am going to change the stuff. See original post.

By the first boss, do you mean that array of guns that you fight in your spaceship?

I'm guessing it's when the siren (then boss music) starts and the autoscrolling stops, or at least it's where I stopped mine. http://acmlm.cjb.net:2/emu/nes/fceu/fcs/guardianlegendscore.fcm Score: 16880 It's all about destroying everything (getting hit works too) ... only the last part with the cannons is harder, since you have to destroy them (500) but also let them shoot as much as possible first (60 each).

Lol, I guess turning the sound on can help with such decisions. Nice movie, Acmlm. It's weird, though, because you only get 14700 points when I play it back. You also miss some of the enemies. Which version of the emulator do you have, and what settings are enabled? There might be some desynch issues.

Recorded with FCEU 0.98.13 v6, 0.98.15 works too Guardian Legend, The (U).nes Recorded from power on (there's no other options) With no desync, I destroy everything on screen, don't miss any shot, take some damage but still finish with full life.

Yes, sirens = boss. Very nice movie, btw. I played it with said rom, though, and when I watch it it doesnt kill everything, and you only finish with half life and 15800 pts EDIT: Nevermind, I had an outdated emulator version. However, you never kill those spinny sattelite things (they are destroyable, they just have a lot of life). So I think a higher score is possible.

I guess I had an earlier version than 0.98.13 v6. I tried it with 0.98.15, and it turned out correctly. Once again, nice movie.

I remade it from when the "spiny satellite things" start coming up, they do take forever to destroy but give enough points (1000) to be worth it even when I have to miss a few regular targets. I also took much more damage, since I finished 2 of them when they were hitting me at the bottom of the screen, but gained 3580 points: http://acmlm.cjb.net:2/emu/nes/fceu/fcs/guardianlegendscore2.fcm Score: 20460

Just a reminder, final submissions for this week's contest are due in 11 hours. Next week's contest will go up before then, however (as soon as I think of a good game/goal)
